From the instant-classic Stained Glass insert to the trippy transparency of Rookie View to the game-dated and statistically-specific uniqueness of Stat Line Jerseys, the debut edition of Panini America’s Innovation Basketball had a lot going for it last season. The good news for collectors who embraced Innovation during its inaugural season is that all of those essential elements will return for an encore when 2013-14 Innovation Basketball releases next month. The better news? So will a lot more innovative developments.
Foremost among the new enhancements for 2013-14 Innovation Basketball are the fantastically-illustrated — and quite rare — Kaboom! insert and the diversely-die-cut Top Notch Autographs, both of which are previewed in the sneak-peek gallery that follows. Every six-card pack of 2013-14 Innovation Basketball will deliver two autographs, one memorabilia card one View or Rookie View card, one Stained Glass insert and one additional insert.

Set to release June 11, 2013-14 Innovation Basketball will feature 75 View cards numbered to 199 with Blue (#’d to 25), Gold (#’d to 10) and Black (#’d to one) versions. The 25 Rookie View cards will feature the same parallel structure. Base inserts include Swat Team (15 cards), All Rookies (15 cards), Juggernauts (30 cards), Starters Legends (10 cards), Starters (30 cards) and the aforementioned, roughly-one-per-case Kaboom! (20 cards).
Innovation’s autograph lineup features Foundations Ink (numbered to 199 or less) and Top Notch Autographs (numbered to 325 or less), both featuring Gold parallels numbered to 25 or less. New to the signature roster this year are the unique Main Exhibit Signatures and Main Exhibit Rookies Signatures cards boasting on-card autographs and a shadowbox design.
On the memorabilia-card front, 2013-14 Innovation Basketball includes the Stat Line Jerseys (25 cards), Rookie Jumbo Jerseys (25 cards) and Memorable Memorabilia (50 cards) inserts, each numbered to 299 or less and paralleled by Prime versions numbered to 25 or less. Autographed-memorabilia inserts include the 50-card Game Jersey Autographs and Digs and Sigs sets that are numbered and paralleled by Prime versions numbered to 25 or less.
We’ll have plenty more to preview on 2013-14 Innovation Basketball in the coming weeks — including an in-depth look at just how the Kaboom! illustrations came together. But for now, enjoy this first extended look at the product.

  1. We pulled a top notch autograph of shaq in magic uniforms(jersey number 32), but its so funny that the auto is “shaq 34”. Does panini mistakenly put that stickers that i believe should be put on shaq in lakers uniform. Great job panini…
