The long-awaited 2014 NFL collecting season is officially upon us, what with last week’s release of 2014 Score Football and today’s release of 2014 Hot Rookies Football — and that means hardcore football collectors are hot on the trail of this season’s most promising new Rookie Cards. In the coming weeks, that chase promises to intensify considerably with the addition of two of Panini America’s perennial early season favorites: 2014 Prestige Football arrives on July 9; 2014 Elite Football arrives two weeks later.
To put it simply, Elite Football is one of the most venerable and vaunted trading card brands in the entire category, equipped with a healthy host of calling-card inserts (AspirationsStatus, Passing the Torch, Legends of the Fall, Face 2 Face) and acetate autographs. We previewed much of the latter during our live coverage of the 2014 NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Today, we’re going to reveal a whole lot more.

Set to release to the hobby on July 23, 2014 Elite Football will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards per 20-pack box (with at least two autographs guaranteed and at least one of those being a rookie autograph). Each box of 2014 Elite Football also will yield three Rookie Cards numbered to 999 or less, one Turn of the Century insert, one Passing the Torch Silver insert and six additional inserts.
Oh, also falling one per box will be one of the sweet new Clarity Plexiglas cards that must be seen to truly be appreciated. Speaking of cards that you can see through, the hobby’s favorite acetate autographs return in a couple of different forms, including in the landmark Inscriptions insert.
We’ve got an expansive preview gallery for you to peruse below, including your standard batch of pre-release images as well as a comprehensive review of four uncut 2014 Elite Football sheets — the Silver, Gold, Red and Black versions of some of the set’s base inserts.

  1. Dear Panini,
I would really like that Manning/Brady dual auto.
    Yours truly,
    Every collector who ever lived.

  2. Elite, like Prestige, is one of those bell-weather products that enjoy early season release…& generate excitement for the products and season that await.
I love the redesigned “Turn of the Century” autos…I always speculate on a few to add to my player collections each season…& the Manning/Brady “Passing the Torch” auto is right there with the Walter Payton/Barry Sanders PTT issue. Two of the most talented Signal Callers to ever line-up over Center, that is a significant issue.
Really excited, thanks for the tease, Hackler.

  3. Very impressive gallery, the new Clarity inserts are fantastic. Of course I’m partial to the Colts cards in the mix, but I don’t see a weak design in the bunch. Thanks Tracy!

  4. Good looking stuff. Is Tom Brady actually going to be live in this? I can’t remember the last time I actually saw a made auto of his. Also is he going to be live in any other products this year? Thanks 🙂
