Panini America Offers Detailed First Look at 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Basketball

The trend continues. It started earlier this summer when Panini America's 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Multisport kicked out all of the other sports and became 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Football. It will follow suit in 2016 Immaculate Collegiate Football and, in late October, will crossover to the hardwood with 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Basketball.

The trend continues. It started earlier this summer when Panini America’s 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Multisport kicked out all of the other sports and became 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Football. It will follow suit in 2016 Immaculate Collegiate Football and, in late October, will crossover to the hardwood with 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Basketball.

The single-sport transition is a direct response to feedback from Panini America distributors, dealers and collectors — and it worked well for 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Football. That trend promises to continue as well when 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Basketball arrives.

Each box of 2016 Black Gold Collegiate Basketball (four cards per pack, two packs per box) will deliver two autographs and two memorabilia cards, on average. The product checklist showcases some of the greatest basketball players of all time featured in their college uniforms, including the top picks from the 2016 NBA Draft.

The highlights of the product are many across the pack level, box level and case level and include . . .

  • In every pack: One base card or parallel numbered to 99 or less, two autograph or memorabilia cards numbered to 199 or less (at least one on-card signature per pack), and two Collegiate Logo or Rated Rookie Logo Manufactured Metal cards numbered to 199 or less.
  • In every box: Two to three autographs (at least two on-card) and two memorabilia cards.
  • In every eight-box case: One on-card autograph from a top-five pick in the 2016 NBA Draft (Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown or Kris Dunn) numbered to 99 or less; one on-card autograph from a top-eight pick in the 2016 NBA Draft (Buddy Hield, Jamal Murray or Marquess Chriss) numbered to 99 or less; two on-card autographs from a top-18 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft (Denzel Valentine, Henry Ellenson, Jakob Poeltl, Taurean Prince or Wade Baldwin) numbered to 99 or less; four on-card autographs from a top-34 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft (Brice Johnson, Cheick Diallo, DeAndre Bembry, Dejounte Murray, Deyonta Davis, Malik Beasley, Skal Labissiere or Tyler Ulis) numbered to 99 or less.
  • Also look for key autographs from Kevin Durant, Karl-Anthony TownsD’Angelo Russell, Jahlil Okafor and many more veteran and young NBA stars.
