Panini America Offers NBA Hoops Facebook Tournament for 2014 NBA All-Star Week

February 12, 2014

Beginning today, Panini America is honoring 2014 NBA All-Star Week with a tournament for users of the company’s 2013-14 NBA Hoops Basketball Facebook app. The grand prize winner of this inaugural Arena Battle will take home a Kevin Durant autographed 8 by 10 from Panini Authentic; 20 additional winners will receive free special virtual packs and in-game currency to use in the 2013-14 NBA Hoops Facebook app.

The tournament will pit players who play on the Battle Arena against each other and will award points for each tournament win. The player with the highest score at the end of the tournament will win the Durant-signed photo. The 2013-14 NBA Hoops Basketball Facebook app is completely free to play. If you haven’t yet discovered the game, here’s what you’re missing:

The next generation of sports card collecting has arrived. For fans and collectors who simply can’t get enough of Panini America’s NBA trading card products in their physical form from hobby shops, retail outlets or online auctions, you can now get them in their Facebook form thanks to a unique partnership between Panini America and Deckdaq.

The powerful, entertaining and interactive virtual collecting game launched in December with a special 2013-14 NBA Hoops Basketball collection that includes more than 600 virtual cards and three different virtual albums in which to put them. After installing the free Facebook app, users are given 500 coins with which to begin their virtual collections by “purchasing” one of the three virtual albums and virtual packs of 2013-14 NBA Hoops Basketball.

From there, users can virtually open their packs and place them in their specified slots in the album. Throughout the process, bonus coins are earned, upgraded versions of cards uncovered  and new levels achieved, providing access to exclusive areas of the NBA Hoops Basketball world, including the Marketplace (which offers the opportunity to buy, sell and trade with fellow users), the Arcade and the Battle Arena.

In addition to featuring virtual versions of 2013-14 NBA Hoops’ base cards and Rookie Cards, the collection also includes rare inserts and autograph versions that add significantly more value to users’ overall collections.
