Panini America Offers One More Look at the Beauty of 2013-14 Spectra Basketball

Look, I know that 2013-14 Preferred Basketball released last week and that soon enough, the collective focus of basketball collectors will be fixed firmly on 2013-14 National Treasures Basketball, 2013-14 Immaculate Basketball and 2013-14 Flawless Basketball. But you'll have to look long and hard throughout those four products to find a set as jaw-dropping attractive as the Rookie Jumbo Jerseys Gold insert in 2013-14 Spectra Basketball.

Look, I know that 2013-14 Preferred Basketball released last week and that soon enough, the collective focus of basketball collectors will be fixed firmly on 2013-14 National Treasures Basketball, 2013-14 Immaculate Basketball and 2013-14 Flawless Basketball. But you’ll have to look long and hard throughout those four products to find a set as jaw-dropping attractive as the Rookie Jumbo Jerseys Gold insert in 2013-14 Spectra Basketball.

The 25-card chase provides a stunning amalgamation of Optichrome technology, rarity (the cards are numbered to 10), jumbo-prime pieces of player worn memorabilia, a young-superstar-littered checklist and fitting design. Add it all up and you’ve got one of the most impressive inserts of the entire 2013-14 collecting season. (My only complaint is a selfish one: North Texas standout Tony Mitchell didn’t make the checklist.)

Today, we’re going to honor 2013-14 Spectra Basketball’s Rookie Jumbo Jerseys Gold insert with a closer look at every card in the set, including the likes of Victor Oladipo, Michael Carter-Williams, Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. and more. Enjoy this special Sunday gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage.

  1. It’s a set issued after the end of the season. I just can’t get excited about player-worn memorabilia at this point. I’d rather have less exciting pieces of game-worn memorabilia.

    1. $270 Select Plus with all of the patches that weren’t put into Select Standard. Not sure entirely how Select was almost all single-colored ‘prime’ swatches when these were available.

  2. love spectra than preferred… tracy is it true that NT BKB will be releasing in limited quantities in the Nationals?

also when are you previewing Immaculate and Flawless?

  3. A great lead-in to 2013-14 Panini National Treasures Basketball. I love the optichrome, it adds an additional POP to the ridiculosness of the patches showcased in this post! Nice Patches…

  4. Spectra is my Rookie Product Of The Year! Basketball & Football. None of the LCS around here was able to get any Spectra or if they did, they didn’t get enough. So I can’t wait to FINALLY buy a few boxes at the National this Saturday! Keep up the great work Panini.

  5. THIS PRODUCT IS FLAT OUT AMAZING!!!!! Do this for Football in 2014 and I’ll be SOLD like a Barry Sanders auto marked at half price at a show in Detroit!!!!
