Those who've taken the time to truly appreciate the Game Day Materials insert in the new 2013 Limited Football release are keenly aware of why that insert is so profound, so poignant, so authentic. In their continued effort to bring collectors and fans as close to their on-field heroes as absolutely possible, Panini America product developers linked the game-worn jerseys featured on the front of those cards to the exact game during which it was worn.
Those who’ve taken the time to truly appreciate the Game Day Materials insert in the new 2013 Limited Football release are keenly aware of why that insert is so profound, so poignant, so authentic. In their continued effort to bring collectors and fans as close to their on-field heroes as absolutely possible, Panini America product developers linked the game-worn jerseys featured on the front of those cards to the exact game during which it was worn.
The result is a compelling 25-card creation that offers not only the date the featured piece of jersey was worn, but it also gives you the featured player’s statistical output for that game as well. It’s a refreshing bit of product-development diligence — and it’s something you’re likely to see more of from Panini America going forward.
Far too often in today’s super-premium, multicolored, prime-patch-possessed game-worn jersey landscape, many game-worn memorabilia inserts fly under the radar, seen as little more than set-filler rather than bona fide pieces of sports history. But the Game Day Materials insert in 2013 Limited Football commands a second look — and a more prominent place in the collecting conscious.
Below, we bring you many must-see images of the fronts and backs of some key cards in the set. Here’s hoping a closer examination of the set will lead to a greater appreciation of its content.
Awesome stuff. I love the look of these cards.
Awesome set. Love the inclusion of the game date and stats.
Limited!!!! WOW!!! love these cards. Sick patches
Can’t wait to see some Nick Foles and more Eagles stats and patches..great looking cards!
Good to see this concept applied in Limited, that Reggie Wayne will be on the must-have list for sure. Thanks Tracy!
Game used jerseys- hooray! Just like Playbook Down/Dirty. Impressed to have them with the game stats. Nice!
I really like these cards. Got an Eli Manning one last year.
Smart move, and long overdue in the hobby. This adds value to cards that have become common.
These cards look awesome. I will be getting some for my collection.
Beautiful cards with an awesome touch. It’s so much better knowing when the jersey was worn instead of the “this memorabilia is not from any particular game or event” garbage some other companies throw out there.
I always loved how Donruss/Playoff would show a picture of the actual item the swatch was taken from on the backs of the cards back in the late-90s/early-2000s (hint: bring back the Hardwear helmet cards!).
Great job as always and another reason I buy exclusively Panini products.
This is what every card should be like.. Player/date & stats should be on every card of this type so you guys hit this 1 out of the park 🙂
Great stuff! Reminds me of the older stuff where the back of the card would show the actual jersey before it was cut up.
Makes it feel much more authentic and more valuable to me knowing what game the jerseys are used in
This comment might be a few days overdue, but this is such a simple idea that makes the card so much better. As someone else said it takes something that had become so common and spins it into something that is new and exciting. It’s awesome to be able to link the jersey to an exact game and to have the stats of the player for that game on the card is a great touch. I really hope you bring this idea to hockey! Awesome job!
