PITTSBURGH In what’s becoming an annual tradition, Panini America officials spent another late first night at the NHL Draft. This year, Panini America captured photos and autographs from a talented young group of hopefuls at the CONSOL Energy Center as the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted Round One of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Company officials spent quality time with several young prospects and future NHL superstars Friday night, including No. 1 overall pick Nail Yakupov as well as Ryan Murray, Alex Galchenyuk and Griffin Reihnart. Players signed autographs and took photos for their first trading cards (released as soon as they skate in an NHL game) and we, of course, gathered great content for The Knight’s Lance.

Stay tuned in the coming days as we’ll post behind-the-scenes footage right here, including an exclusive interview with Yakupov and Murray. We’ll also give a few lucky hockey collectors some sweet mementos from this weekend’s events.

And now, a few images from Friday night’s opening round.

  1. Loved the redemption set last night at the draft…..pulled some great cards in the packs I had to buy to get the redemption sets too!

  2. Great picks/pics – can’t wait to see what these boys can do… and what their rookie cards will look like.

  3. Love the photoshoot pics. Are the jerseys in these Panini photoshoots provided by the respective teams, or Panini? I was surprised to see Teuvo Teravainen in the Blackhawks alternate jersey on this webpage, everything else I saw of his draft day pics was the Hawks home red. The Hawks didn’t wear alternate jerseys in the 2011-12 season, I have no idea if they retired them for just a season, or when/if they plan to bring them back.
