Panini America PC Spotlight: Collecting Tyreke Evans in the Homeland

I got a Tweet earlier this week from Twitter account "RealYohann" asking me whether Panini America would be interested in showcasing a website devoted to collecting Sacramento Kings superstar Tyreke Evans.

I got a Tweet earlier this week from Twitter account “RealYohann” asking me whether Panini America would be interested in showcasing a website devoted to collecting Sacramento Kings superstar Tyreke Evans.

My response: “Heck, yes!” After all, it’s not every day you stumble across a website dubbed TyrekeEvansCollector.com.

Upon further review, it turns out RealYohann is none other than Yohann Bertuzzo, an Evans super collector based in Panini’s corporate homeland of Italy. Bertuzzo first took a liking to Evans and his best cards last year and, well, we’ll let him tell you the rest.

Panini America Personal Collection Spotlight
Who: Yohann Bertuzzo, Ravenna, Italy
What: Tyreke Evans autograph and patch cards

I have collected Tyreke Evans for the last six months. I’ve loved him as a player since his rookie year as he was the fourth player in history to average 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in his first year.

My favorite card is his 2009-10 National Treasures JSY AU RC. I have two of them. This is by far his most successful card in my opinion. The card has a simply wonderful design with limited-edition versions (99 of the normal version, 25 for the Gold).

I love his 2009-10 Classics AU RC for the superb picture and his 2009-10 Crown Royale Die Die Cut RC for the special effects and the crown. I also love the National Treasures Signatures Gear Combos Laundry Tag with two tags and his National Treasures Colossal Materials cards with their huge patches.

To date I have 13 autographed Rookie Cards, six autographs and 11 patches; and I’m always looking for his next great Panini signature cards. Thank you for allowing me to share my collection.

Forza Tyreke, Forza Italy!

  1. Wow, that’s impressive!!! I love that Classics auto RC. Actually, I love all the Classics base auto’s/signatures. They’re awesome on-card auto’s that feature great photography. 3 NT Rookie Auto’s… wow. Incredible collection!!!

  2. Congratulations on such a nice collection of Tyreke cards! I’ve always wanted to get his RC card, as he plays only 45 mins from where I live. He is a very talented player, who is still putting up great numbers this season – despite having some injury issues.

The Kings actually might be moving to Anaheim, CA – which will open up an entirely ‘new’ collector base to his cards & the Kings team in general. I hope they can get a deal done to stay in Sacramento .. but the Ducks owner is offering his Stadium & 100 million dollar loan.

Either way, I think the Kings will be a contender in the west over the next 5 seasons … at some point. You will be happy you bought the Evans RC’s when you did! Congrats again, and good luck with your collection. Thanks for sharing.

  3. That’s quite the collection! I love the Crown Royale autographs; such a great looking design and on-card autographs, too. They’re absolutely beautiful in person.

    Keep it up, Johann.

  4. What blows my mind is that he’s acquired these cards when 95% of eBay sellers do not ship overseas. I’m sure there’s a few people out there that have just as many, if not more, Evans autograph and patch cards but acquiring such a substantial number in Italy is impressive.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s won every auction that ships worldwide. I think his shipping charges should be part of the collection too. I’m sure you could buy a couple more Evans cards with the money he’s spent on shipping.

  5. Great job. Pretty cool to see such passionate fans of NBA Basketball in Italy collecting guys other than the guys people generally think of.
