And say this about the players on the checklist no matter what they did on the diamond: They’re all heroes of handwriting today, possessors of poignant penmanship whose bold, full autographs could forever serve as “How To Sign Certified Autographs” examples.
And the players featured — Will Clark, Jay Buhner, Ozzie Guillen, Matt Williams and so many more — are right at home in the quirky, retro-cool confines of Hometown Heroes, a pulpy, throwback tribute to the simpler times and trading cards of yesterday. Last month we profiled some of the early autograph returns for the set; today we deliver a whole new batch.
Enjoy, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance next week for a complete Quality Control Gallery that delivers a comprehensive breakdown of everything the set has to offer, including the legendary, lenticular return of SportDisks.
incredible list! ….. no HoJo signature?! ..sorry mets, tigers, rockies and cub fans.
so good to see autos of guys i remember and saw play as a kid
agreed!
Excellent array of autos from an unfortunately under appreciated era in baseball, I’d like to see more of today’s players take the time many of these guys took with their signatures, especially Juan Samuel, Matt Williams and Will Clark (one of my first rookie chase players when he got hot in 1989, his 1986 Traded/Update cards were on fire for a few months). Thanks Tracy!
It is great seeing autos of players who didn’t really have the chance back in the day (so to speak) of having an autographed card in packs.
This is quite the list and if I understand correctly this isn’t even all of them- can’t wait till the release. Question- will there be any numbered parallels of these autos? Just wondering- thanks!
Oh wow look Will Clark’s Auto is live. But his 2013 Panini USA Stars and Stripes Auto is a redemption that has yet to be fulfilled. -rollseyes-
Really bold green! Autos look great against it! Such a retro feel
