As Panini America officials continue preparing for the packout and subsequent ship dates for 2012-13 Threads Basketball later this month, The Knight’s Lance remains your home for the revealing first glimpses at several new aspects of the product.

Yesterday, we shared images from the set’s High Flyers insert. Today, we take a look at two more new inserts: Inside Presence and Talented Twosomes.

As its name suggests, Inside Presence honors the game’s most powerful post players with a gritty design and poignant images of the featured superstars doing dirty work down low. Talented Twosomes, meanwhile, takes advantage of teammate photography rarely used on trading cards to honor the best tandems in the NBA.

Both inserts lend a great deal of authentic hoops feel to Threads and should be well received by NBA collectors. Of course, after you’ve had the chance to peruse the following images, we’d love to hear what you think about them.

  1. I like both inserts. One thing I’ve noticed a lot recently on these previews: The backgrounds of the cards. The USA basketball team inserts, the flag background on the Team USA baseball base cards, the Black and White background on the recent LEGEND base football cards, and now these Inside Presence backgrounds. Someone is sure giving the backgrounds of these cards some respect and making them stand out from the rest of the general population of cards. Great job!!! When is the first Andrew Bynum 76ers card coming out?

  2. Between the two i really like the inside presence but the talented two somes looks good too. But something is very eye catching with the first one.

  3. Nice photos (finally) but can’t Panini release these inserts without the awkward edits to their contrast and colors?

  4. The design looks similar to Court Heroes released in Prestige; with a few changes. You had a year to make your basketball products stronger and we the collectors are still waiting…

I guess only the serious collectors will have National Treasure and Certified to look forward to; the two releases since Hoops are on the same level as Hoops.

    1. Appreciate your perspective. It’s hard to judge the quality of a product until it’s had some time on the market. I’d venture to say that there are lots of serious collectors who’ve appreciated and enjoyed Hoops and Prestige and are looking forward to Threads as well. As you know, there’s a gradual build-up to the more super premium releases and not every product between now and then will resonate the same with all collectors.

But I think we’re off to a strong start in 2012-13 and I look forward to what our basketball has in store for the rest of the season. Of course, I am biased.

But any and all constructive feedback is taken seriously and appreciated. So if you have specific areas that you think we need to improve, let us know.

      1. Tracy I love the designs of cards, autos, and jersey cards but there is one thing I know could improve-more autographs on jersey cards. I can’t say that I don’t love pulling jersey cards, but an autograph on some would help:) Thanks again.

      2. Honestly I and my collects on Blowout have stated and again today in response to this article that Panini spends more time and effort on their hockey designs. Overall the hockey design is superior; everything from autographs, jersey, and inserts. Preferred was your last good product design especially silhouettes; which is still a great design. Checkout Blowout forums it’s almost a daily discussion.

  5. Tracy I want to thank you for making Prestige 2012-13 basketball amazing:) I went to Walmart the other day and decided to buy a pack that was bigger than the others-little did I know that it wielded a Steve Nash True Colors jersey card!!!!! Still excited and can’t wait to find more awesome basketetball legends. Thanks again:)

  6. These two new inserts look pretty good. The photos of the game’s big men look phenomenal and the talented twosomes add a nice touch to this set.

  7. Really digging the designs on these 2 insert sets! The Inside presence has a sort of old grainy feel to the design. I see that rudy gay has a talented twosomes in this set! wooooooo! Thanks for the previews tracy!
