Panini America, the world’s largest sports and entertainment collectibles company, announced today that it has bolstered the company’s sports product development department by appointing current employees Karvin Cheung (NHL), Ben Ecklar (NFL) and David Porter (NBA) to Product Development Director positions.

All three industry veterans will continue reporting to Martin Welling, Panini America’s Vice President of Operations.

“Since I arrived at Panini America last December, my primary mission has been to push all of our trading card releases to new levels of excellence in terms of aesthetics and value,” Welling said. “We’ve experienced great success in these areas so far and these new appointments will only help as we continue to raise the bar. In addition, these refined roles will aid us in our continued emphasis on meeting original ship dates.”

The new department structure will allow each director to focus on just one sport’s releases and reiterates the company’s commitment to the category. In the past, two Panini America Product Development Directors oversaw two sports each.

As part of the restructuring, Keith Hower, Panini America’s former Assistant Basketball Brand Manager, has been promoted to the role of Brand Manager.

Panini America is the only company in the world that manufactures licensed trading cards and stickers for the NBA, NFL, NFL PLAYERS, NHL, NHLPA, MLBPA and FIFA World Cup. The company also has exclusive relationships with USA Baseball, USA Basketball and the U.S. Soccer Women’s National Team.  In addition Panini also has relationships with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, The Pro Football Hall of Fame and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and owns exclusive entertainment licenses with Disney, Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson, and more than 600 global licenses with other sports and entertainment properties.

  1. Along with your continued personnel changes I wish you the best. Do you still use the old Fleer offices in Mount Laurel, NJ? I could swear I heard something about redemptions in Mt. Laurel and wondered if that was you (perhaps, it is another card company). I am only interested as I live here in Jersey.

  2. I’ve seen marked improvements each year since Panini entered the American Trading Card Industry. This years products have taken a HUGE jump up the improvement ladder. The designs look great and the value is the best in the hobby. Keep up the good work. I look forward to future products.
