Panini America Preview Gallery: Your First Look at 2011 Absolute Memorabilia Football

During the first 10 years of its existence as a stand-alone product, Absolute Memorabilia built considerable brand equity by consistently delivering some of the most popular Rookie Cards in football every year.

But when the venerable brand enters its second decade with the September release of 2011 Absolute Memorabilia FootballPanini America product developers are looking to accentuate an already-sterling reputation by delivering, for the first time, on-card autographs for Absolute’s trademark Rookie Premiere Materials RCs.

“One of the biggest hot buttons for all collectors is on-card autographs and how we can deliver more of them,” says Ben Ecklar, Panini America’s Director of Product Development. “We absolutely understand and appreciate the importance of that aspect of our products to consumers. That’s why the 36 NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere guys will have on-card autographs in Absolute for the first time.

“That’s a huge step forward for the Absolute brand and should make what traditionally are among the strongest Rookie Cards on the market even stronger in 2011. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about that development.”

That development should be well received by collectors who’ve come to expect big things from Absolute. Once again this year, the product will deliver one autograph (numbered to 299 or less) or one memorabilia card (numbered to 100 or less) per pack and each four-pack box will yield two autographs, two memorabilia cards, two Rookies and two additional parallels or inserts.

Also returning for 2011 are the mesmerizing Absolute Jumbo Patches memorabilia cards and a whole host of additional gear-graced goodies including:

  • NFL Shields and NFL Shields Signatures numbered to five or less
  • Brand Logos and Brand Logos Signatures numbered to five or less
  • Popular inserts such as War Room, Star Gazing and Tools of the Trade and the retail-exclusive Rookie Jersey Collection
  • On-card autographs from all the top 2011 rookies including Cam Newton, Mark Ingram, A.J. Green and Julio Jones and more

“It’s no secret that last year’s Absolute Jumbo Patch insert was one of the most stunningly good-looking game-worn memorabilia sets of all time,” Ecklar says. “Well, it returns in all its glory in 2011, but with added levels of collectability and cool with the Jumbo NFL Shield version. Absolute Memorabilia is one of the most popular football sets on the market every year. This year’s version will only serve to strengthen that reputation.”

  1. I think the RPA shouldve stayed as a vertical card, but other than that, it all looks so sick. Im hoping for atleast one Ravens Rookie to be in that RPA set, been awhile since I could get a Ravens RPA.

  2. Another good looking product. On card autographs in a higher priced product is definitely good thing so keep that up. And one thing Panini does great is patches, this product is no different. Those patches look awesome. Overall, looking great so far and can’t wait for more updates.

  3. The addition of on card RPM auto’s should make those pretty hot, great to see that in this product. I like the packaging of this product in the past, it helps it stand out over most other packaging. I like that this stuff looks like it got better over last year, and I hope things like box/case loaders, hot boxes, and unannounced hits/surprises keep being explored to improve value for football collectors.

Now I just need to save up some money for AJ Green and Andy Dalton.

  4. Absolutely phenomenal. I had to put down my sandwich I was so excited by these. The RPMs are perfect. The designers at Panini need a raise. Another winner.

  5. I know you for a fact you will not post this comment. How about a product that is not so rookie based and only features vets and legends? On card autos, cuts, you would have collectors on there knees drooling. The smart ones anyways. I have haved enough with these rookied based products. You can argue that there is alot of vets and legends in absolute but at the end of the day at least 1/2 or 3/4 of the hits in a box are scrub rookies and you lose your money. Even with breaking a case you will lose a TON of your money and only recieve 2-3 DECENT hits. Consumer relations have been horrible with panini and whats with all of the redemptions. WIthin the last year you have haved at least 1000’s redemptions. only one product is what i ask for. NO Redemptions, No Rookies and if you follow these guide you can dowhat you want with it. RANT IS OVER.

  6. I have to say, these look very cheap. Lower production quality given there’s no foil, and I’m a big fan of Absolute. Very disappointing given I collect the Absolute Patches set each year.

  7. I still need time to stew on this. I think I like it, but I also think it’s getting closer and closer to every other panini product on the market.

At some point, you should run a contest similar to guess the signature, but instead just remove the branding and say “Guess the set?!” because at this point, I’d have a hard time differentiating a lot of the cards.
