Panini America Previews Plans for the 2014 Toronto Spring Expo (Must-See Gallery)
Show-goers making their lists and checking them twice in advance of this weekend’s 2014 Toronto Spring Expo are no doubt also keeping one eye fixed on the weather forecast for later this week, which calls for highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Not to worry, Panini America is packing plenty of its trademark Texas heat for the trip to help warm up the Toronto International Centre all weekend long.
Once again this spring, the Panini America booth will be the place to be at the Toronto Spring Expo, thanks to another show-stealing wrapper-redemption program, Box Wars and the company’s popular Redemption Trade-Up program.
As is the case at every Panini America show appearance, the anchor at the 2014 Toronto Spring Expo will be the company’s wrapper-redemption program that will feature new Cracked Ice versions of 2013-14 Prizm Hockey and 2013-14 Select Hockey as the base set. Randomly inserted in this year’s three-card packs will be autographs from an absolutely stacked checklist. You can get an exclusive sneak peek at some of the those cards in the gallery below.
As for Panini America’s additional gran plans for the show, well, keep reading . . .
The Panini America Wrapper-Redemption Program
Panini America officials have once again pulled out all of the stops to create a special Toronto Spring Expo set available through the company’s popular wrapper-redemption program at the show. To participate at the show, collectors must purchase selected Panini America sports card products from the Expo show floor, bring that unopened product to the Panini America booth and open it in front of a Panini America representative. In exchange for their empty wrappers, collectors will receive the appropriate number of wrapper-redemption packs.
Below you’ll find the complete list of eligible products and the number of packs you’ll receive for each box opened at the Panini America booth.

The Panini America Redemption Trade-Up Program
Once again this year, Panini America Customer Service Manager, David Sharp, will be on-site to conduct the company’s popular live Redemption Trade-Up Program. The Panini America Redemption Trade-Up Program has become a staple of the company’s booth at hobby shows across North America, and it returns in force at the 2014 Toronto Spring Expo.
The unique initiative — exclusive to hockey this weekend — will be conducted live at the Panini America booth and will afford those collectors in attendance holding multiple outstanding redemption cards four months or older the opportunity to trade them in for a card or cards of higher value. (Although hockey will be the only sport available to choose from, collectors with other sport’s redemptions are invited to participate as well if desired.)
For example, a collector holding four outstanding redemption cards with a combined Beckett value of $100 will have the chance to swap those four cards for one $100 card via a carefully constructed grab-bag system. The Panini America Customer Service team has assigned values to replacement stock and will offer grab bags containing one autograph or prime memorabilia card at $50, $100, $150 and $200 levels.
Each grab bag will offer minimum values at the depicted levels but many will deliver more than the listed value. Some $50 grab bags will contain cards valued at as much as $80, $100 grab bags will contain cards valued at as much as $140, $150 grab bags will contain cards valued at as much as $175, and $200 grab bags will contain cards valued at as much as $250. Each grab bag may also include live onsite redemption cards good for boxes of product.
In order to help expedite the process, collectors participating in the Panini America Redemption Trade-Up program are encouraged to bring with them print outs from the Panini America Website of the outstanding redemptions they want to have replaced at the Expo. Customer Service Manager David Sharp will be onsite to verify the outstanding redemptions as well as their values before completing the replacement process.
Each redemption card being swapped out must be ALREADY PENDING in the system, past four months and collectors may swap out up to $400 in value at the show while supplies last. Collectors also will be required to sign a waiver that states they agree to the random pulled replacement.
Along with the Panini America Redemption Trade-Up Program, Panini America also invites those who participate in both the wrapper redemption program and box wars to trade out any redemption cards that are pulled for a live card on the spot.
