Panini America’s iconic NBA Hoops Basketball brand is getting bigger. Much, much bigger. Taking a page from similar successful transformations in both football (2013 Score) and hockey (2013-14 Score), the company’s traditional NBA season-starter is going the jumbo route for its 2013-14 hobby version.

And like a player who dedicates himself to a rigorous off-season weightlifting program, the bulky benefits for 2013-14 NBA Hoops Basketball will be instantly recognizable when the product releases in late October: 10-pack boxes that yield 500 total cards, including two autographs, one memorabilia card, 50 parallels, one Artist’s Proof parallel, 30 Red-Back variations, 20 Action Shots, 20 Dreams, 20 Board Members, 20 Class Action, 20 Courtside and 20 Spark Plugs.

The other attributes that have made NBA Hoops a perennial season-opening blockbuster return in force, including spectacular photography, the first licensed NBA Rookie Cards of the new draft class and a few extremely scarce chase cards.

Here are just some of the highlights of the history-making first jumbo edition of NBA Hoops:

  • The return of Kobe’s All-Rookie Team, one of the most valuable short-printed inserts in Hoops.
  • Brand new, ultra-rare Highlights, featuring the greatest stories from the 2012-13 season, including Kobe Bryant reaching 30,000 points, Steve Nash eclipsing 10,000 assists and the Miami Heat’s 27-game winning streak
  • The return of Artist’s Proof Black 1/1s
  • Photo-driven inserts such as the breathtaking Courtside and Above The Rim that give collectors the best seat in the house

We’ll have plenty more on 2013-14 NBA Hoops Hobby Jumbo in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, sit back and enjoy this extended first look:

  1. Look at all those mojos!
Hoops is a slam dunk for sure!
The box design will be cant miss for sure!
    Thanks Tracy!

  2. Huge improvement on the last two releases
Love the addition of the mem card’s and the
    auto cards look 500% better,
Great to see just how far Panini have come in the
    last few years.

  3. Looks good so far, I like the idea of bringing the jumbo format to the lower end releases for each sport and adding value with increased odds of hits. Thanks Tracy

  4. Looks great guys! Thanks for preview. I am really liking this new jumbo pack approach to cards. They are like digging for treasure

  5. As a case breaker and reseller on eBay, I just have to chime in and say this JUMBO Hoops product looks fantastic! Tons of inserts per box are going to mean building master sets will be faster and easier, that means more sets get into collectors hands much quicker than before. Love it! Can’t wait to bust it open and start sorting like a mad man.

  6. I can’t stop looking at this post….I’m so ready for the new Hoops to come out! 2012-13 Hoops was more than 10x better than the 2011-12 Hoops. I hope to the say the same for this release. I love the idea of the small prime patch for the low end product. All of the cards look very classy with a little retro touch. Just an all around clean design. Last year’s base card was a little unbalanced, and the year before was just plain Ugly. This year looks really balanced. I loved the idea of the spark plugs insert last year and I’m glad to see it’s back with a nice looking design. Very Excited! Thanks guys.
