Panini America Provides Detailed First Look at 2015-16 Excalibur Basketball (Gallery)

Following a successful season in 2014-15 as a Target-exclusive, Panini America's popular Excalibur Basketball brand will return in limited form to the hobby later this season equipped with fabled chase favorites like the captivating Kaboom! and the multi-colored Optichrome Crusade insert. 2015-16 Excalibur Basketball Premium boxes will be hobby-exclusive; Blaster Boxes and Gravity Feed packs will remain Target exclusives.

Following a successful season in 2014-15 as a Target-exclusive, Panini America’s popular Excalibur Basketball brand will return in limited form to the hobby later this season equipped with fabled chase favorites like the captivating Kaboom! and the multi-colored Optichrome Crusade insert. 2015-16 Excalibur Basketball Premium boxes will be hobby-exclusive; Blaster Boxes and Gravity Feed packs will remain Target exclusives.

Set to arrive in hobby shops across North America in late May, each Premium hobby box of 2015-16 Excalibur Basketball (10 cards per pack, six packs per box) will deliver three autograph or memorabilia cards, six Rookie Cards, six inserts, three numbered Crusade cards and two Excalibur parallels numbered to 70 or less.

Kaboom! cards will fall roughly once per 20-box case and the Crusade rainbow hunt will include a colorful array of rookies and veterans numbered from 199 all the way down to one. Additional highlights of 2015-16 Excalibur Basketball are many and include . . .

  • An assortment of autographs and memorabilia in Rookie Rampage Jumbo Jersey Autographs and Prime, Treasured Ink, Regal Endorsements, Monumental Marks and more.
  • Look for autograph and memorabilia combinations from the top players in the 2015-16 NBA rookie class, including Prime versions featuring premium jumbo jersey patches.
  • Treasured Ink featuring the game’s greatest treasures in this elegantly designed insert that showcases players executing their signature moves.

  1. Liking what I see so far…the Crusade has a unique design while keeping the Medieval theme alive. That Rookie Rampage looks amazing too! I’m looking forward to seeing the base cards. If this set is like last year, it will be the only one to include post trade-deadline moves.

  2. I remember the frenzy surrounding those Kaboom inserts last year, they were some of the most highly sought after cards in the hobby for some time. Interesting decision to move the Premium boxes to hobby only outlets but considering the greater level of knowledge through those hobby stores it may be a much better idea (support your LCS).
