Panini America Provides Detailed First Look at 2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball

In early December, one of baseball collecting's favorite prospecting pursuits, a product known affectionately throughout the hobby by three simple letters, will return for the 2016 season boasting a streamlined, hit-filled packaging configuration and new enhancements across the board.

In early December, one of baseball collecting’s favorite prospecting pursuits, a product known affectionately throughout the hobby by three simple letters, will return for the 2016 season boasting a streamlined, hit-filled packaging configuration and new enhancements across the board.

Indeed, 2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball, or “EEE” for short, is a different-by-design proposition this year that includes a five-pack, 25-card configuration with each box hobby box delivering a minimum of 10 autograph or memorabilia hits. A striking new base-set design features numbering on each card and eight unique parallels including the popular Status and Aspirations chases numbered to 200 or less. 

The highlights of the new-look 2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball are many and include . . .

  • New Contenders Tickets bolstered by Contenders USA Baseball and College Tickets featuring players from the current 2016 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, 18U National Team and 15U National Team as well as current prospects and draft picks in their college uniforms.
  • A multitude of autograph inserts including Base Set Autographs, Future Threads Silhouettes Autographs, USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Silhouette Autographs, USA Baseball Tickets and College Tickets.
  • Memorabilia inserts that include Future Threads Silhouettes, Future Threads Silhouettes Dual Players, Dual Materials, Triple Materials, Quad Materials and USA 15U and Collegiate National Team Quads.
  • On average, each hobby box of 2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball will deliver one Silhouette Material Autograph, two to four memorabilia cards, four numbered parallels and between six and eight autographs.
  • USA Baseball Playoff Tickets feature the first autographs of all 64 members of the Collegiate, 18U and 15U National Teams. Find seven parallels including Cracked Ice and Printing Plates numbered to 24 or less.
  • Future Threads Silhouettes Autographs include five Prime parallels including Brand Logos, Brand Tags, Laundry Tags, Sleeve Patches, Nameplates, Jersey Numbers and Team Logos.

I was very sorry to see you leave the hockey card industry and do hope you will be back soo., However, as a collector I can see the effort that you are putting into your other sports brands in all areas except one. With the plethora of autos and memorabilia being produced more is not always better. Quality is the discerning factor for today’s collector. I do not trade or purchase any item with a sticker auto and have a hard time moving any items that do. I understand the economics of pursuing hard sign compared to sticker but as we move forward collectors will continue o be more discerning.
