Panini America Provides Detailed First Look at 2017 Spectra Football (Preview Gallery)

Panini America 2017 Spectra Football Leonard Fournette

Frankly speaking, a product that boasts a reputation like the one Panini America’s Spectra Football brand enjoys doesn’t need dramatic modifications from year to year. Mainly, it needs a few subtle design tweaks, a new rookie crop, the same bewildering array of colors and, just to keep things fresh, perhaps a few new bells and whistles.

And so it will be for 2017 Spectra Football when it arrives in hobby shops across North America in late September. Headlining the new additions for the Optichrome-infused product will be the rare Neon Black Light (which features white acrylic autographs) and striking Nebula parallels. On average, each hobby box (four cards per pack, four packs per box, eight boxes per case) will deliver four autographs, seven memorabilia cards and three Prizm parallels.

Spectra Football always has been about wow-worthy special effects and those are destined to continue this season. The highlights of the product are many and include . . .

  • A new wave of stunning Rookie Patch Autographs featuring the NFL’s future stars and numbering to just 99; look for 1/1 autographs featuring Laundry Tags, Swooshes and Team Logo pieces.
  • Rookie Dual Patch Autographs featuring a pair of signatures and prime-memorabilia pieces numbered to 25 or less.
  • On-card autographs from some of football’s greatest icons in the popular Illustrious Legends insert.
  • The rare Nebula parallel made a promising debut in 2016-17 Spectra Basketball earlier this summer and looks to carry that momentum over to the gridiron.
  • A variety of veterans and legends, including autograph memorabilia cards in the Attired Athletes insert.

We’ll have plenty more on 2017 Spectra Football in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. Until then, however, enjoy this extended sneak peek:
