Panini America Provides the First Glimpses of 2013 Prestige Football (Gallery)

Change is coming. For the first time in a long, long time, Prestige Football will not mark the official kickoff to a new NFL trading card season. For 2013, Panini America is giving that honor to the landmark 25th edition of Score Football (which we'll preview in great detail right here on The Knight's Lance in the coming days).

Change is coming. For the first time in a long, long time, Prestige Football will not mark the official kickoff to a new NFL trading card season. For 2013, Panini America is giving that honor to the landmark 25th edition of Score Football (which we’ll preview in great detail right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming days).

But this special Friday morning sneak peek belongs to 2013 Prestige Football, which will follow Score’s lead with a late-June release and a dramatically improved content mix. Each hobby box will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards (at least two autographs guaranteed), 24 Rookie Cards, three Prestigious Picks, three NFL Draft Picks, three NFL Draft Tickets, three NFL Draft City Destinations, three NFL Passports and three additional parallels.

Rookie Cards of the top players in Prestige will be updated with photography from the 2013 NFLPA Rookie Premiere, making Prestige the first set of the year to include images of rookie stars in their new NFL uniforms. 2013 Prestige Football also will deliver three different on-card autograph sets featuring members of the 2013 NFL Draft Class. Put another way, no other $4 pack SRP in the industry offers as many opportunities to secure on-card autographs from the top 2013 rookies.

Other highlights of 2013 Prestige Football are many and include . . .

  • Four different die-cut acetate insert sets (NFL Shield, Stars of the NFLInside the Numbers and Fantasy Team) seeded two per box
  • Limited Rookie Card Signature Extra Point parallels inserted one per box
  • Two micro-etched Inserts featuring the 2013 Rookie Class (Prestigious Picks and NFL Draft Picks) seeded six per box

We’ll have much more on the new-and-improved Prestige Football in the coming days. But for now, enjoy this extended sneak peek at the product:

  1. Saw the words Prestige..and ran over. I live and love this product. This is the first TRUE football product on the market and I eat it all up like a boloney sandwich.

    Looking good already

  2. So 2013 Score will not feature photos from the Rookie Premiere? Weak. I am not a fan of the college photos with the logos and names photoshopped out.

    1. If the set has a retro vibe like the rookie card Geno Smith was carting around, I will actually be ok with just head shots of the rookies. (No photoshopped helmets, just them in a headshot)

One of my favorite cards is my Derrick Thomas Score rookie card from that set. Can’t wait to see the 25th of Score.

Prestige looks nice too, though I really liked last year’s look.

  3. As someone who collected SCORE football when it originally came out, I am looking forward to its 25th anniversary release.

Prestige is always a nice early season product as well. Maybe it’ll be out in time for you Father’s Day promo this year!!

  4. I am not sure how I feel about the shield being on every base card, assuming that’s what’s happening. However, I will buy packs of this just in pursuit of them amazing “Draft Picks cards. They remind me of 1930’s art deco.

I suggest for Score that Panini should think about cutting a deal with the East-West Shrine Game (my fave all-star game) and get photos there and at their practice.

Some mid-to-late-round guys I hope make it into one of your football sets: UGA WR Tavarres King, Texas Tech QB Seth Doege and WR Darrin Moore, Washington State QB Jeff Tuel, Florida State/Valdosta State CB Greg Reid, Kansas State QB Collin Klein and WR Chris Harper, and Clemson RB Andre Ellington.
