Turns out jet-setting to Los Angeles for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game and all of its star-studded festivities and calling it work isn't all it's cracked up to be. After all, being on the road means not being in the office -- and any given day spent away from the Panini America office means you run the risk of missing something really cool.

Case in point: I was on a plane first thing Monday morning on the way back to Dallas when the vaunted Panini America hockey team was busy conducting the first-case quality control check for 2010-11 Panini Crown Royale Hockey, which makes its royal return to the NHL next Wednesday.
So when I noticed the fruits of that laborious QC process gleaming on Al Muir’s desk late Tuesday afternoon, I gathered some of the sweeter hits from a product rife with them, scanned them hastily for your benefit and returned them to the Canadian’s desk undetected.
Here’s hoping you enjoy this extended first look at live cards from the product. Just think, only six more days until you can feel like royalty with a box of your own.
Very awesome look!
Nice to see that we get on-card autographs too. The only thing I have a problem with is multi-color swatches being considered Prime (Boedker “Heirs to the Throne”).
Rookie Silhouettes, Scratching the Surface and Coat of Arms look extremely promising and will make for some awesome PC or trade bait.
Overall beautiful design. I cannot wait till Wednesday next week to finally bust some wax on this!
Please promise us there won’t be further delays!!!
Does PK Subban have an auto in the set?
Indeed he does. My hockey guy tells me he’s in the Scratching the Surface set.
Awesome
Stuff looks absolutely fantastic!
Any chance we can get a checklist on the Voices of the Game inserts? As a former play-by-play guy, I’ll probably be collecting those myself!
Here’s the complete Voices of the Game gallery:

Hi! Just wandering what the Brayden Schenn content is and if you might have scans would be awesome!
Simply awesome.
EASILY my favorite hockey card set I have seen so far this year!
I cannot wait to see the checklists, hopefully the Kings are well-repped in a set like this.
This isn’t about Crown Royale, but can someone answer whether or not they made 20th ann and french versions for the Score season highlights cards? I don’t think Panini ever answered that question but none have ever shown up.
Crown Royale looks very good! I also am curious as to the December 14 2010 inscription. Do you know what that means?
Thank you!
I LOVE THIS CARD (scratching the surface)! Any chance that Gretzky signed these?
Is there a checklist for this product yet, or if not, when will one be released?
Tracy,
Is Jacob Markstrom in this set or what sets can we expect to find him in?
This site is awesome and thanks for coming to hockey!
T
Hi Tracy…can you tell me if the Rookie Sil. numbered out of /99(Prime) his true R.C. or is it the /25 Rookie Sil. his true R.C. ? Thanks, Joe
I would assume most folks would consider the one numbered out of 99 to be the RC.
Hi Tracy…Thanks for your Fast response ! My reasoning for asking Tracy is… which is his True R.C. …. is it the Rookie Silhouettes numbered out of /25 that say Patch on it or the Rookie Silhouettes numbered out of /99 that say Prime , Which is the Parallel ? One guy on Ebay is saying the /25 could be his True R.C….can you Please find out all you can …Thanks, Joe (NYC)
Kevin – I don’t think he’s in the Scratching The Surface subset, at least not according to the checklist. He does have a base RC auto #134. It’s called rookie royalty. Not sure what it looks like, cuz the one I pulled was a redemption.
T – Looks like no Markstrom stuff
Tim – No Gretzky Scratching The Surface, but I do like those cards, they look real nice
