Panini America Quality Control Gallery and Checklist: 2011 Rookies & Stars Football

Amid the barrage of high-end hoops and hockey being produced and promoted at a frenzied pace around Panini America headquarters these days, it’s easy for a product like 2011 Rookies & Stars Football to fly quietly under the radar.

So when Panini America Football Brand Manager Carlos Torrez called me late yesterday afternoon to see if I wanted to take a peek at the highlights from the first quality control case, I was at his desk feverishly sorting through a rather impressive assortment of cards before he could even hang up the phone.

From the looks of things, 2011 Rookies & Stars — the perennial table-setting summer favorite live everywhere next Wednesday — delivers in a big way, highlighted by a fresh batch of rookie-themed designs, a stunning ensemble of Longevity parallels and the first fully licensed mainstream Rookie Card of former Ohio State superstar quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

Take a look for yourself in the gallery below. When you’re done gawking, be sure to check out the complete checklist for both the hobby version of 2011 Rookies & Stars and the Longevity retail version.

  1. Whew! For a second I thought you got rid of the Dress For Success set — but then I found it! Looking forward to this product. Better be better than my case of Prestige and Elite. 🙂

  2. Can’t wait! R&S is an absolute, positive must buy every year for me!! Gotta say, the Dress For Success looks really great!

Hoping there will be a Leslie Michael Jasper card….

  3. Thanks, but how is their a checklist for this, yet there isn’t a checklist for NT basketball which releases in about 2 weeks and is the highest end product there is?! You’re killing me (and others)!

      1. Haha I know you are and you can only do so much, just giving ya a bit of a hard time! I still think its weird though that the cards already have been made yet there isn’t a checklist out for it!

  4. Oh Man! See that Tom Brady card there! I WANT! LoL Guess I’ll have to raise some money to buy a box! Thanks for the lookand review!

  5. Wow! Rookies and Stars is always one of my favorites and i must say that you guys completely outdid yourselves this year! This product looks amazing!! I would be happy to get my hands onto any of that! And to have a Pryor rookie included into this rookie product is awesome. Congrats to all of you! Great job! Now i must close my mouth to stop the drool from falling out.

Are there going to be any giveaways coming up related to this product :)??

  6. The product looks great, however…I noticed on the Titus Young/Mikel LeShoure dual card, the pictures are on the wrong sides. (I.E. you have ‘Titus Young’ labeled above a picture of LeShoure, and vice-cersa)

  8. I still dislike the autographs on the cloth, but everything else looks great. Any chance if Panini wants to continue with the manufactured patch route, they could get the autographs off the cloth and maybe on the card or even a sticker? I think it would look better to the eye. I always like a clear, crisp autograph and it’s hard to do on a piece of cloth.

  9. Im kinda on the fence with the manufactured patches….on one side the manufactured patch has probably came in as much or more contact with the player than the “event worn” jerseys. I’m not so much hating on the card companies for producing them….I just wish we could wait until you guys could obtain some GAME worn jerseys from the rookies until they were included in the cards.
I LOVEE the way Timeless is turning out.Now that is how you make a memorabilia card. I have just not had any interest in the event worn jerseys since Mark Ingrahm tweeted a picture of himself wearing over 17 jerseys, all with random numbers. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I have to say
I do like this years R&S. I love the base and every parallel and insert other than the “Freshman orientation”,I am not a huge fan of those, but other than that you knocked it out of that park again!
(so long as there are very few if no redemptions) 🙂

    1. Good stuff, Ryan. Appreciate the feedback. For the record, when the great Mark Ingram Tweeted that particular picture you speak of, he was it that OTHER company’s studio and not ours.

  10. Why is there a Tyrelle Pryor RC? Just wondering if its going to be considered an SP or was Panini trying to think outside the box and got burned when there was no supplemental draft? Way to fuel Pryor’s already big head…
