Long before anyone even knew who would be playing in yesterday’s NFC and AFC Conference Championship Games, Panini America was ready to pay trading card tribute to the eventual Super Bowl XLIX participants.

In fact, the road to creating commemorative 10-card sets honoring the AFC Champion New England Patriots and the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks, like the road to the Super Bowl itself, actually began with NFL Wildcard Weekend three weeks ago.

That’s when Panini America officials began the creative and checklisting processes that accounted for all possible outcomes. Ultimately, the up-front work for 10 Super Bowl hopefuls hit the cutting-room. The two teams that remained are hitting the presses this week so that the Patriots’ and Seahawks’ respective Super Bowl XLIX team sets will be ready for distribution when the Phoenix Convention Centers doors open to start the NFL Experience this Friday.

Below, we provide your first look (fronts and backs) at the two sets. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance in the coming days for additional details, including information on how to acquire the sets and our massive plans for Super Bowl XLIX.

  1. Great. I already have a few of the Seahwaks cards from last year. I think Panini has a rich history of brands that have coverd Superbowl way back. I hope you can come up with something special for the winners.

  2. Shouldn’t Panini underinflate the Super Bowl card sets by removing 2 Patriots cards in every 11 out of 12 sets produced? 🙂

  3. These exclusive sets are always a nice added value to those going to the game, I liked the video of the Kid Reporter handing each player his card and getting a reaction from last year. Congrats to the fans of each team who get to enjoy these, thanks Tracy!
