Panini America Releases Preliminary Plans for 2012 Toronto Fall Expo Redemption

Beginning next Friday, thousands of Canada’s most passionate collectors (and a few from the south of the border) will descend upon the Toronto International Centre to take part in the three-day spectacle known as the 2012 Toronto Fall Expo. As has become customary, Panini America will be there supporting the event with a one-of-a-kind wrapper-redemption program sure to be the talk of the show from beginning to end — and long thereafter.

Beginning next Friday, thousands of Canada’s most passionate collectors (and a few from south of the border) will descend upon the Toronto International Centre to take part in the three-day spectacle known as the 2012 Toronto Fall Expo. As has become customary, Panini America will be there supporting the event with a one-of-a-kind wrapper-redemption program sure to be the talk of the show from beginning to end — and long thereafter.

Panini America has once again created a must-have promotional set that includes Rookie Cards numbered to 399, unique memorabilia cards featuring hats and materials worn and used at the NHLPA Rookie Showcase, one-of-a-kind sketch cards, instant-win redemption cards good for autographed memorabilia and much, much more.

This year’s special set, distributed via those patented two-card, silver-foil packs, will include:

  • A 25-card NHL base set featuring the top names in the league (with a focus on the Canadian market), including 10 Rookie Cards numbered to just 399.
  • A 22-card Score Hot Rookies boasting a design taken directly from the landmark 1990 set and featuring players from all four of North America’s major sports. Each card in the Hot Rookies set, which was previewed in all of its glory last weekend right here on The Knight’s Lance, will be numbered to 399.
  • An 18-card Rookie Materials insert featuring jerseys and hats worn by several rookies from the worlds of basketball, football and hockey.
  • Tools of the Trade memorabilia cards of Chris Kreider embedded with huge swatches of towel Kreider used during the 2012 NHLPA Rookie Showcase.
  • Additional scarce insert cards randomly inserted and numbered to either five or only one.
  • The return of original 1/1 NHL Player Sketch Cards and autographed pieces of memorabilia distributed via instant-win redemption cards.

Here’s the breakdown of how Panini America’s wrapper-redemption packs will be distributed:

  • Collectors opening a box of 2012-13 Certified Hockey at the Panini America booth will receive six wrapper-redemption packs
  • Collectors opening a box of 2012-13 Score Hockey at the Panini America booth will receive one wrapper-redemption pack

Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for more sneak-peek images and complete coverage of next week’s 2012 Toronto Fall Expo. Until then, enjoy this first look at the 25-card base set and five-card Team Colors insert . . .

  1. Wish I could come!
It will be alot of fun, fun fun!
Enjoy and good luck to everyone that could go!
    Take care!

  2. Hello from Post-storm SANDY Southeastern PA. I am thankful the power stayed on-for my sump pump, fridge, lights, and of course reading the Knight’s Lance the day after!!! I liek the Rated Rookie design a lot!

      1. Thanks. I still don’t quite know how some of my trees are still standing and how the power stayed on despite cutting out 4 times briefly yesterday. Father north of Philly has no power and brother in north-central NJ has no power.

    1. I agree, no top rookies in score. will certified be the same or have rookie redemptions like it did 2 years ago? I was really hoping to see some of last years products on the list.

      1. I guess I will save some money this year as I don’t really collect Score or Certified. I am just surprised Scott you chose not to add the late releases from last year. Any particular reason why?

  3. Really wanted to go this year, but I will wait to hear how I can get some without going. Thanks for all that you do.

  4. Hi Scott! Glad to hear about this. I always look forward to busting these packs at your booth. As before, I have only opened boxes of basketball product at your tables. Will you be providing packs to us basketball pack busters again?
As an example, if I bust a 2012-13 Panini Threads Basketball box, how many redemption packs would I be receiving?
Thanks in advance for the information.

  5. Great to see you guys continue with this promotion but it’s unfortunate the minorities (FB and Basketball) are left out. Sure an overwhelming majority of the people going to the Expo are looking for hockey but there is a slowly growing appreciation for other sports as well in Canada. It’s good to see that there are some players from other sports in the sets Panini is distributing but it’d be nice to have them accept their other sports products.

I hope you guys take this in consideration, definitely looking forward to busting a few products and I really hope that your basketball and football products will be accepted in some form.

    Thanks

    1. Great point and for those that attend know, we ALWAYS accept current year Panini products in other sports. 99.9% of the dealers there carry hockey, so even though it may not be listed, we still take care of those Panini football, basketball and baseball collectors.

  6. Are you sure you can’t open any of last years products? Not a fan of Score and Certified is out of my price range. This redemption program is the only reason I make the trip to the show.

  7. Won’t be at the show but hope everyone has a blast. These shows are always so far away. This one, The National among all of the others. Even just a regular card show is too far away lol. And hobby shop. Good thing I have the Knights Lance and internet access to view these cards.

  8. I am thrilled to see that other sports are included in the set! The cards look fantastic, and the program is always a blast. You guys do a wonderful job I understand that the majority of people at the Expo are looking for hockey, but I am one of many who collect the others too. Perhaps those that are interested in just hockey can trade, there will be plenty of fellow collectors to trade/interact with. Can Dominion be opened for redemption? It is practically this year’s release.

  9. What a great way to fill the void that the labor issue has created for NHL fans, excellent looking set for the promotion. Hope everyone north of the border has a great time, thanks Scott and Tracy!

  10. Just pulled a Team Colors, guessing it is cracked ice, auto Jake Gardiner. Guys at the shop i buy from said that this could be /5 or /1 been searching the web but can not find another one out there. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
