One week from today, thousands of Canada’s most passionate collectors will descend upon the Toronto International Centre to take part in the divine three-day showcase known as the 2012 Toronto Spring Expo. And once again this year, Panini America is pulling out all the stops with a showstopping wrapper-redemption program sure to have the floor buzzing from beginning to end — and long thereafter.
Veteran Toronto Expo enthusiasts likely will find the show-exclusive set created for next week to be the best one yet, for it includes sequentially numbered rookies, unique memorabilia cards featuring towels used during the NHL All-Star Game (with swatches big enough to use following a post-game shower), a whole new roster of one-of-a-kind sketch cards, instant-win redemption cards good for autographed memorabilia and so much more.

The special set, distributed via two-card silver-foil packs, will include:

  • A 10-card NHL All-Star base set that features short prints of Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby.
  • A four-card NHL All-Star MVP insert honoring the game’s most legendary superstars, including the great Gordie Howe.
  • An eight-card Rookie Card subset featuring the top name’s of this year’s class with every card sequentially numbered to 299.
  • Eight Rookie Patch Autographs.
  • The Private Signings autograph insert set highlighting members of the 2012 NHL All-Star Game.
  • The five-card Tools of the Trade memorabilia insert highlight award-winners from 2011 NHL All-Star Weekend on cards embedded with huge swatches of event-used towels,
  • Additional scarce insert cards randomly inserted and numbered to either five or only one.
  • And, of course, the triumphant return of original 1/1 NHL Player Sketch Cards and autographed pieces of memorabilia distributed via instant-win redemption cards.

Here’s the breakdown of how Panini America’s must-have wrapper-redemption packs will be distributed:

  • Collectors opening three packs of 2011-12 Elite Hockey at the Panini America booth will receive one wrapper-redemption pack
  • Collectors opening one pack of 2011-12 Crown Royale Hockey will receive one wrapper-redemption pack
  • Collectors opening four packs of 2011-12 Pinnacle Hockey will receive one wrapper-redemption pack
  • Collectors opening two packs of 2011-12 Certified Hockey will receive one wrapper redemption pack
  • Collectors opening one pack of 2011-12 Limited Hockey will receive four wrapper-redemption packs

  1. Love the hand drawn cards. They are so cool. Wished I could be there to go. Way to far for me. But thanks for the gallery as always!!

    1. And thanks for the Jernigan posting I can drool over as well. Especially one thats numbered to 5. Amazing stuff. Too much drool. Not enough paper towels to clean up with now.

  2. No basketball hits??? I only open basketball wax boxes…and have done so the past two shows. Can I still get those redemptions packs if I open bball wax at your booth?

  3. Looks great… I’ll have to find the OV manufactured all star patch card w/ red jersey. It will go well with the one I have in his white jersey! Wish I could be there. At least the National this year is just up the road from DC so I can see you guys there! I’ll just have to wait to see what great redemptions you’ll have for that program.

  4. any way some of these packs could make their way to a contest or perhaps if we buy something online? by the way it would be cool if you guys could make it to the 1st Ottawa comic con.

  5. Hey Tracy
how does the redemption program work? I understand that you have to open certain packs to get something in return. Do we have to buy packs or boxes cause I’m not the average collector that can afford that many boxes or packs. I’m excited for this show,it gonna be a first. I’m new collector in this great hobby.

  6. What do you get if you buy a whole box , Is it only if you purchase packs of cards ? , Or if you purchase a whole box , Will you get one for every pack in the box ? , Like for an example if you purchase a box of 11-12 Crown Royale , Will you get a redemption pack for every pack of Crown Royale that’s in the box ? , Like would you get 4 redemption packs for buying a box of Crown Royale , Because there is 4 packs in a box ? , If anyone could help me out with this i would appreciate it ! , Thanks !

  7. Hi Tracy…First Time going to the Show…back to collecting after a long absence and a little confused so i have a few questions…1. Can we buy Packs or Boxes from any dealer at the show? 2. Does the Pack Break have to be at the Panini Booth or can we just show up with the wrappers? 3. Is there anything we need to get from the Dealer such as a receipt or redemption coupon? Any Help for us newbies is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in Advance

    1. Thanks for the questions, Jason. Indeed, you buy the respective packs or boxes of product from dealers at the show on the show floor, and then you bring them to the Panini America booth to open. You keep the cards, give us the wrappers and we also give you the equivalent number of wrapper redemption packs.
Thanks again. We look forward to seeing you next week.

  8. Hi, i was just wondering if there was a limit on redemption packs you can receive at the expo, like if i buy 3 boxes of Panini Elite which equals 60 packs, would i get 20 redemption packs?

    1. If you want to bring three boxes of 2011-12 Elite Hockey to bust at our booth, we’ll absolutely give you the equivalent number of redemption packs. Six boxes? Sure. Nine boxes? Brint it! We look forward to seeing you there.

  9. Hello again, I have another question. If i buy a box or two at my local retailer before the expo, can i redeem those wrappers as well? Really want to bust one right now, but will still be grabbing a few at the expo.

    1. Great question. This is a wrapper redemption, so ALL packs MUST be opened at the Panini booth in front of a Panini representative so the wrappers can be redeemed there at the booth for the redemption packs. Where the boxes originate is up to you…
