The 35-card Buried Treasures insert brings arguably the most unique trophy in all of sports — the NHL’s Stanley Cup — and some of the most legendary men who’ve won it together in a pioneering piece of production sure to be coveted by hockey fans and collectors alike. As its name suggests, each card in the set — which features unsigned versions numbered to 50 and rare autographed versions numbered to either five or 10 — buries a miniature metal replica of the Stanley Cup under a sublime layer of acetate.

The jaw-dropping finished pieces of cardboard art — featuring the likes of Gordie Howe, Patrick Roy, Jonathan Quick, Mike Modano and more — are sure to go down as some of the most innovative trading cards produced this year. We’ve provided a few examples of the greatness in the gallery that follows. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of the Buried Treasures, including the first images of autographed versions when they arrive.
Enjoy the gallery. From all of us at Panini America to all of you great fathers — and father figures — out there: Happy Father’s Day.

  1. This would be a beautiful set to collect. Not sure how these will price out but I’m definitely going to grab a few if I’m not lucky enough to pull them.

  2. I received an on card Auto Relic of Ray Bourque, Could any one help me with determining what the piece of relic is, it is a half inch piece of what looks like tar and there is what looks like small pieces of hair glued to it.I read that the 2013-14 National Treasures had Something different put into them. Could anyone help me with this.Thank You.
