Panini America’s buzz-inducing buildup to the 2013 National Sports Collectors Convention begins in earnest . . . now. When sports collecting’s annual showcase kicks off later this month at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Ill., Panini America once again will endeavor to steal the show with its trademark wrapper-redemption program.

The foundation of that program (aside from the jaw-dropping assortment of memorabilia cards, autographs and other rarities that we’ll explore in great detail in the coming weeks) are far-reaching multisport base and insert sets that deliver equal doses of extreme star power and legendary local flavor. That means that in addition to a checklist bolstered by the likes of Bryce Harper, Kobe Bryant, Aaron Rodgers and Alex Ovechkin, this year’s edition also includes a healthy assortment of White Sox, Cubs, Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks, too.

In the gallery that follows, we detail Panini America’s 2013 National Convention base set and a few of its inserts, including the always-popular Team Colors and Diamond Kings. As our countdown to the National continues in the coming days, we’ll have plenty more to preview here on The Knight’s Lance, including first looks at the set’s Rookie Cards, autographs, memorabilia and, yes, even a whole new roster of Original Player Sketch cards.

Stay tuned.

  1. Stuff looks awesome as always. My question is though, will people who can’t get to Chicago be able to have a shot at this stuff?

      1. Excellent. I have to work, unfortunately. Gotta “Build America.” As I like to say, “We Will Deliver…” Too bad I can’t catch a train to Chicago.

  2. That Gold lakers uniform on kobe pops out on
    White clean design!
    Love it!
    Im ddefinitely digging it!!!
    🙂

  3. Tracy,
I like that Ice Kings Brendan Gallagher, very cool, can’t wait for the new 2013-14 hockey items. Great job on the designs, can’t wait for the National.
    Thanks,
    T

  4. Tracy,
I know you may not want to say now, but will there be redemptions in the wrapper redemption packs for items such as signed NHL or NFL Draft Caps? Does Jack Campbell or Jonathan Huberdeau have one? Those are my favorite items that you have ever done, I have the Nugent-Hopkins and a Greg Little one.
    Thanks,
    T

  5. Tracy one quick question, but it;s a big one. Is National Treasures Basketball still hitting the streets the 31st, or is it gonna get pushed back a bit?

  6. Tracy,
Will anyone be able to buy a box from your part of the convention to get those packs or do you have to a part of something to get those packs?

  7. These were fantastic last year. I’m sure they will be the same this year. Making it out to Chicago this summer didn’t work out, but I am hoping for an online way to order boxes and get packs. My boys and I had fun at the National last year!!

  8. Glad you are putting a limit on packs this year I was shut out last year due to a bunch of case breakers in front of me.
