Panini America officials on Monday provided some key insight into the many short prints and variations randomly seeded into 2012 Golden Age Baseball, including information on the set’s mysterious “white-border” inclusions.

The product, live now for roughly two weeks, has resonated with several types of collectors thanks to an eclectic checklist and a unique makeup that includes baseball legends, pop-culture icons and some of the greatest athletes across all sports.

  • There are 25 cards in the base set that are paralleled by short-printed photo variations limited to just 92 copies each.
  • The “white-border” parallels are limited to just 58 copies each; not all cards have a “white-border” parallel, but cards #’s 101-146 do.
  • “White-border” versions of the 25 base-set parallels are limited to just 10 copies each.
  • There are no “white-border” or SP variations of the mini parallels.

      1. Cool then, because I got a HOT BOX of 48 of them!! The bottom two cards of each pack were that lighter cream color. It was noticeable coming out of the packs. COOL! They were also all high numbered! Gotten at Sports Vault store in Bear DE!

      2. I was getting 2 off-white cards per pack in my box (the last 2 cards in the pack). I saw two more boxes opened from the same dealer and they pulled 2 per pack as well. So, did I just get really lucky and get 2 per pack or is there another parallel. Thanks!!

    1. I have some cream colored cards all numbered from 101-146, that I thought were just faded cards from the print runs. I also hit a white
border hot box and these are snow white. So I would question that the
cream color cards are really considered to be the white variations.
I also have Variation card number 37 which says on the back 37 SP.
All the checklists that I can find say the variations are numbered 1
      thru 25 ???

      1. That’s why I asked. Maybe there is some kind of in-between sp because the ones I got are a noticeably different and lighter cream color or off-white, but not white-white. Hope we get some clarfication.

  1. Saw a box of this opened this weekend, pretty solid overall. Person busting it said they were going to hold everything other than the hits to wait for a list like this so this post was well timed. Nellie Fox bat piece, Denny McClain on-card auto and a Marilyn Monroe/Jane Russell memorabilia box topper were the hits. Thanks Tracy!

  2. I pulled one of the white bordered card of Blue Moon Odom. I may have missed it but did you list the cards with the variations? I put the set together and would like to know if I have any of them. It was truly a fun set to put together.

  3. If there are no SP with the mini’s then what’s up with the different backs? I have mostly minis with brown Broadleaf Cig backs, I have one mini with blue lettering Broadleaf Cigs back, then I have a few minis with Crofts & Co. on the back with blue or red lettering… none of those are SP?

    1. Pretty sure their is a box bust video on here from late last year with 1 of the people that put this together, during commentry there is mention of SP’s with different backs, I think this post means no white bordered SP mini’s.

  4. Wished I could have tried this product. Looks great. Still plenty of time for me to give it a whirl 🙂
