Panini America, Top Rookies Join Forces for New TV Spot to Kickoff 2016 NFL Season

By any assessment, Panini America officials made the most of the time they spent with top NFL rookies during May's 2016 NFLPA Rookie Premiere by capturing critical content -- photography, autographs, memorabilia and more -- that will help drive sales of the company's officially licensed NFL and NFLPA trading cards throughout the upcoming 2016 season and beyond.

By any assessment, Panini America officials made the most of the time they spent with top NFL rookies during May’s 2016 NFLPA Rookie Premiere by capturing critical content — photography, autographs, memorabilia and more — that will help drive sales of the company’s officially licensed NFL and NFLPA trading cards throughout the upcoming 2016 season and beyond.

Also part of Panini America’s Premiere process? Giving starring roles to top rookies Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Ezekiel Elliott, Paxton Lynch, Laquon Treadwell, Josh Doctson, Derrick Henry and Cardale Jones for the company’s annual television commercial to support its trading card products. The focus of this year’s intense spot, as you’ll see below, is the company’s landmark Donruss Football brand.

Goff, Wentz, Elliott, Lynch, Doctson and Treadwell star in the :30 spot that began airing this week on Disney-XD, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and NFL Network:

The extended :60 spot will be promoted via Panini America’s social media platforms:

In addition, each of the eight players also will be featured in :15 vignettes that will be pushed via social media in the coming days leading up to the start of the 2016 season.

Earlier this week, Panini America also began a monthlong Twitter campaign with NFL veterans Derek Carr, DeAngelo Williams, Devin McCourty, Jeremy Langford, Thomas Rawls, Andy Dalton and Teddy Bridgewater that will promote 2016 Donruss Football and the company’s NFL Gridiron digital trading card app.

  1. While I’m not into football I’m glad to see TV ads. I always wonder how many people may want to collect cards but simply have no idea they exist. Ads in Sports Illustrated would be a good thing too, I think.

  2. I good way to get kids interested is to give them free packs. I coach youth flag and I try to give out cards to kids each year as a reward. Maybe a free box to give to the kids would be a great start to get them interested!

  3. Excellent work by the marketing team, positioning Panini America as synonymous with officially licensed NFL training cards especially to kids is very important. I think these commercials will definitely catch their attention. Thanks Tracy!
