For those of you who haven’t yet seen our preview of the brilliant first uncut sheets from Panini America’s upcoming 2012-13 Prizm Basketball, do yourself a favor and have a look now. Just be sure to come right back here when you’re done for a humongous Halloween treat way sweeter than any candy you’ll eat tonight.

Prizm technology is coming to football, too.

Following in the footsteps of its trailblazing basketball counterpart (which arrives in just a few weeks), 2012 Prizm Football will launch in February with a 300-card base set bolstered by 100 rookies seeded one per pack. In addition, there are autographed versions of all 100 rookies (numbered to 499 or less) and 100 of the veterans (numbered to 149 or less).

Each hobby box of 2012 Prizm Football (six cards per pack/20 packs per box/12 boxes per case) will deliver two autographs, three Prizms, one hobby-only Red Prizm, one Rookie Dominance, one Decade Dominance, one Brilliance and two additional inserts.

Each retail box of 2012 Prizm Football (four cards per pack/24 packs per box) should yield one autograph, one Prizm, two retail-exclusive Green Prizms, one Rookie Dominance, one Decade Dominance, one Brilliance and one additional insert.

Other product highlights include . . .

  • Rookie Prizm Autographs: Boasting a unique design updated with 2012 NFL game photography, this 100-card, rookie-focused autograph parallel is limited to just 99 and includes a Rookie Finite Prizm 1/1 autograph version
  • Red Prizm Die-Cuts: A hobby-exclusive 300-card parallel set
  • Gold Prizm parallels numbered to just 25
  • The 25-card Decade Dominance insert (featuring Prizm, Gold Prizm and Finite Prizm parallel versions) honors the greatest legends in NFL history

We’ll have plenty more to share regarding 2012 Prizm Football in the near future right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, in the name of getting you to trick-or-treating a little quicker, here’s your extended first look at the product.

Enjoy.

  1. I had suspicions when basketball was released that Football might have it as well. Thats why I asked. man..so many words come to mind. I was so stoked to seeing the technology being brought back to basketball. But now beyond excited to see the football. And the fact that it comes in retail and hobby. Thats great marketing. Hitting every sort of collector up. And once again the base cards just keep outdoing themselves. You go from the Gridiron with action photography to this with the shiny prizm technology. As a collector I like the fact that Panini has gone back to the basics and put a ton of effort into the base cards and built an amazing product around them. Some companies just throw a border or childrens color their base cards. But you guys have been going the extra mile. Way to go!

  2. I know u can’t give away a date for this but can you say it’s for ’13 or sooner? Wife is giving me a pretty nice budget for Xmas. I’m already looking at the Black and this would be sweet to go along with it..Great job as always. Love the Basketball, and these are just as awesome

  3. Looks a bit bland personally, especially considering a name like “Prizm.” Is there some kind of technology or foil that isn’t visible in the preview pictures?

  5. retail is that going to be an exclusive like target or walmart or both and other places as well? and do you have an est. price for hobby and retail?

      1. Sweet, Thanks Tracy! Id love it, esp with Rated Rookies would be awesome! Something that combats the compition! Even if it was a Panini Football base set. Id like something with more defensive players like Charles Tillman!

  6. Wow! That’s awesome- thank you guys for establishing this product to both hobby & retail. Now I finally have a chance to pull an autograph in my budget;) Great job as always Panini-

  7. Tracy,
Will Tannehill be on the cover of product box? That is some awesome respect to a quarterback that doesn’t get the same attention due to the greatness of Luck and Griffin. I will buy several boxes just for Tannehill.
    Great work.
    Thanks,
    T
