Panini Peek: 2012-13 Innovation Basketball

Look, you don't name a trading card release "Innovation" without being able to back up such a title with content. So when Panini America's NBA Product Development team set out to devise the so-named 2012-13 Innovation Basketball, well, they knew they had to bring it. So what they're bringing, among other things, is the spectacular Stained Glass insert (printed on colored, textured acetate), the terrifically transparent Rookie View RCs and the massively swatched Rookie Prime Jerseys.

  1. That Kobe On Black signed on Gold Looks Really Awesome!
    Those Patches looks Nasty! Sick!
Beautiful Cards fromThe leader of Innovation!
    PANINI That Is!!!

  2. The stat line patches with the actually game used jersey from the stats on the card is really cool!

  3. Fan of the rookie patches. Hope to be lucky enough to get one of those.

Question on the Acetate stained glass cards. How will the color handle photodegradation? You know I am gonna hang that up and show it off…

    Great stuff as always!

  4. That Kobe looks very tidy. Haven’t picked up any basketball product for some time, this looks very nice.

  5. Pretty innovative. I like the game jerseys with the actual picture from the game it was worn from. Now thats innovative.

  6. Very nice design on both the Davis mem and the Kobe auto, looks like a solid new product. Thanks Tracy!

  7. I realize I’m late to the Innovation party, but I wish to comment on the impressive nature of that Anthony Davis card. I dig the stained glass cards, I recall seeing something similar…but not nearly as sharp or well-executed, of course, in the old “Topps Gallery.”
I’m looking forward to future galleries as I’m interested to see how “Innovation” carves it’s own identity.
That gold Kobe sig’? Hobby Woody Alert.

  8. Cards look great! The kobe gold ink looks pretty sick. Stained glass colors and details needs to be a little bit sharper. I have a topps gallery version of the card from 2001 and the details and colours amazing!

  9. 3 auto or jersey per box; so its at least 2 autos and possibly 3 autos? buyers of hobby boxes like me would like to know a definite answer. thank you.
