As its succinct name suggests, the upcoming 2012-13 Signatures Basketball from Panini America will be all about autographs, delivering three of them in every four-card box. But the brand-new release also places an emphasis on clean designs, rare chase elements, photo variations and the Panini America NBA debut of autographed film slide cards.

Signatures Basketball (four cards per box, 12 boxes per case, $120/pack SRP) is slated to arrive in early July featuring Chase Rookies, Chase Legends and Chase Stars inserts that all will be numbered to 25 or less; the unique Signatures Film autographed insert will incorporate a photographic film slide in every card.

The Chase Rookies insert incorporates 15 of the best rookies from the 2011-12 and 2012-13 draft classes with 10 different photo variations of each player. Similarly, the Chase Stars insert also delivers multiple photo versions for each of the top NBA superstars on the checklist.

Both the Signatures and Signatures Film inserts boast expansive 200-card autographed checklists, while Die-Cut Signatures encompasses 150 of the game’s top current and retired players.

  1. Wow! Paninis basketball team is on their A game this season. I guess misding out last year is so paying off this year

  2. Okay. I like the IdeaOf having the best players on thechecklist. Top rookies, well planned Team Panini! Another unique idea for collectors to chase upon
This should be an awesome Release!

  3. Isn’t this getting to be a bit much? How many NBA products are you intending to release for this 12-13 season? And all these variations? (think Marquee) I only collect NBA cards and feel Panini is overdoing the product list this year. This makes about the 20th product either out now or scheduled to come out and I still haven’t seen mention of National Treasures. Why so many, guys?

  4. Very cool looking product – will definitely try a few boxes.

I also agree with others – get rid of “photo variations” just have the athlete sign a limited number of cards with different ink, add an inscription or photoshop some sweet facial hair for some Super Short Prints!

  5. Some great looking previews there, I’ll be interested on additional info regard on-card vs. sticker signatures. Thanks Tracy!

  6. Unlike Jim I don’t think you guys have put out to many NBA products. Think about it Jim, five years ago there was 2 company’s putting out NBA products which usually ended up being around 40 NBA products a year. Now Panini is the SOLE NBA Liscensed card company and they have only put out 11 products so far this season so that’s not much at all compared to back in the day. Frankly I can never have to much NBA products from Panini! They have done an AMAZING job with their NBA liscense and they have put out quality products! You guys at Panini keep up the great work and keep putting out the BEST cards in the buisness!
