With the frenetic grandeur of 2014 NBA All-Star Week in New Orleans serving as the ideal backdrop, Panini America officials today released preliminary information on 2013-14 Panini Basketball, an every-collector type of release that marks the third-ever standalone Panini-branded basketball product (following the 2009-10 debut and last year’s popular follow-up).

The product will feature both hobby and retail versions — with enough exclusive content in each to keep fans and collectors on the chase. Releasing in early April, 2013-14 Panini Basketball will deliver two autographs per box at hobby (10 cards per pack, 24 packs per box) and one autograph or Rookie Jerseys card per box in regular retail (eight cards per pack, 24 packs per box).

Other retail configurations include Blasters and Rak Paks.

Some of the most captivating inserts from last year’s Panini Basketball release return for the new season, headlined by Knights of the Round die-cut chase cards and Black Knights 1/1s. The product also will be bolstered by the return of the always-popular Rated Rookie Signatures numbered to 100 or less.

Other product highlights include . . .

  • Superstar Signatures: The lights shine brightest on the best, and Superstar Signatures features only the best. Ten NBA stars numbered to 199 or less.
  • Favorites: Search for the ultra-rare Favorites insert featuring players who have charmed their fans for years.
  • Rising Tide Autographs: The future looks bright for the budding stars in this uniquely designed insert.
  • An autograph lineup that includes rookies, stars, Hall of Famers and coaches.
  • Look for retail-exclusive content such as Rookie Jerseys, Panini Game Jerseys and Red Knight parallels.

We’ll have many more details on all versions of 2013-14 Panini Basketball in the coming weeks here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, enjoy this extended sneak peek.

  1. Looks nice! Last year i won a box of Panini what was my first ever box what i opened, and even thou i didn’t find anything big inside it was something special for me, and surely i had a lots of fun with it. Thanks again for those sweet memories! Probably this is the reason why i can’t wait to see more from this new Panini product.

  2. Are we going to have some real action photography in this one…or just more of Kobe and Durant holding the ball? Nice Die-Cut though.

  3. After being away from the hobby for a few years (2006-12), last year’s release was the first Panini box I ever opened. (I followed it up with 2012-13 Totally Certified, Hoops, 2011-12 Hoops, and am waiting on a box of 2012-13 Brilliance to come in the mail.) I Loved the set! The design reminded me of early 90s sets, which is a very good thing. My only complaint, is that it was too short. The flagship brand should include every single player in the NBA, and, ideally, coaches as well. I came up about 50 cards short after doing the hobby box, a retail blaster and a few other random packs. If the set was longer I probably would have purchased another hobby box. If I was in charge of the set, it would be long enough to cover everyone on an NBA roster at press time, including the coaches, and the Spurs team cards would feature a gray theme, instead of both the Spurs and Nets having the same black theme. (While I am aware the Spurs have worn black for just about 40 years, they now wear gray at home some times and have used gray as a secondary color for years)

  4. I hadn’t heard much about this recently, pleasantly surprised when it showed up in my area. Got six packs, pulled several retired Hall of Famers, a few rookie cards, one The Naturals, a swatch, three Awaiting the Calls, three Position Powers, five Clear Visions (incl Derrick Rose & Isiah Thomas), six Artist Proofs. Very impressive, will look for more
