In late December, just in time for those last-minute holiday shopping runs, the brand that ignited a hobby-wide passion with Prizm last year — and helped pave the way for similar successful versions in football, baseball and hockey — returns for a new season with more colors, more Prizms and two autographs per hobby box.

2013-14 Prizm Basketball is due out December 18 and will deliver updated looks of familiar favorites (like base Prizm parallels and Gold Prizms numbered to 10) but it will also introduce Black Prizm 1/1s to basketball for the first time and unveil the all-new Die-Cut Purple Prizms numbered to 49.

Each 20-pack box of 2013-14 Prizm Basketball will yield two autographs and five Prizm parallels, not to mention some new inserts designed specifically to take advantage of the Prizm technology. Collectors can also expect retail versions of 2013-14 Prizm Basketball to once again offer exclusive parallels, including Green and Blue.

We’ll have much more 2013-14 Prizm Basketball to preview in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for that. But until then, enjoy this extended first look at the product:

  1. Not knocking the product at all, I loved last year’s Prizm and look forward to this years as well, but I was wondering how you guys choose player photos to use on cards. From searching Panini Kobe and Durant cards, it seems there is quite the abundance of action shots featuring players dribbling, and again, these previews show Kobe and Durant dribbling.

It’d be nice to see a wider array of shots. Is it just an issue of not having access to them?

    1. We’re not limited by selection at all. Most of it is dictated by the design of the card. But if you want to see an awesome array of great NBA photography, look no farther than 2013-14 NBA Hoops Basketball.

  2. I loved last year’s Prizm! I’m glad that Panini isn’t drowning Basketball in 10 different colors of inserts like Football. Unless you guys intend to release news on parallels up until release date….

    GOLD AUTOS! Woo!

  3. Tracy, why this year they don’t have Kobe Anthology…Throughout opening the 12/13 products I was thinking of something you could do called “Panini Anthoolgy” instead of just Kobe…and each pack have a special card of the panini spokesman with auto versions as well.
Or do Blake Anthology, Durant Anthology, and Kobe Anthology and you could get 1 pack per box at random.

    lmk what you think
Just my thoughts. I have a lot of ideas for cards and maybe I’ll design NBA cards for Panini one day who knows

  4. Which color of Prizm is actually lesser in the not numbered parallel? Red? Blue? Green? or the Red White Blue?
