2013 Prizm Baseball Main

By all accounts, the debut of Panini America’s Prizm Baseball brand earlier this year was a smashing success. It sold out the day it was announced, made waves when it released in April and its seemingly countless key Prizm parallels and autographs continue to blaze high-return trails on the secondary market.

Under such a highly auspicious launch, company officials are making preparations now for 2013 Prizm Baseball, the highly anticipated followup that will be bolstered by new Prizm parallels, new autograph signers and the first Prizm Rookie Cards of Los Angeles phenomenon Yasiel Puig.

2013 Prizm Baseball is slated to arrive on September 18, with each 20-pack hobby box delivering two autographs, three Prizm parallels and eight additional short prints or inserts.

Boasting all-new designs crafted specifically to take advantage of the unique Prizm technology, 2013 Prizm Baseball will usher in the debut of new hobby-only Orange Die-Cut Prizms numbered to just 50. Other highlights of the product include . . .

  • Rookie Cards of top subjects such as the aforementioned Puig, Manny MachadoWil Myers, Jurickson Profar, Gerrit ColeZoilo Almonte, Dylan Bundy and more.
  • A resplendent rainbow of Prizm parallels, including base Prizms, Gold Prizms (numbered to 10), Black Finite Prizms (numbered to only one) and the introduction of hobby-only Orange Die-Cut Prizms (numbered to 50); in addition, there are retail-exclusive Green Prizms, Walmart-exclusive Blue Prizms and Target-exclusive Red Prizms.
  • New inserts such as Band of Brothers, Top Prospects, Fearless, Rookie Challengers, Superstar Spotlight and the return of USA Baseball, with Prizm parallel versions of each.
  • A new certified autograph checklist featuring three levels of collectibility (base, Prizms numbered to 25 and  Black Finite Prizm 1/1s) and a larger, more comprehensive base set.

As most passionate Prizm pursuers will tell you, the following preview mocks don’t do the Prizm technology justice, but they will give you at least some idea of what to expect. Check back with The Knight’s Lance in the coming weeks to check out the first images of real-live cards as they become available.
