Baseball collectors, rejoice. One of the most heavily anticipated prospecting gold mines of the season is coming.

At long last, Panini America officials on Friday afternoon released the first extended details of 2011 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Baseball, the autograph-heavy prospect blockbuster due out December 21, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Each 20-pack box of 2011 Donruss Elite Extra Edition will include six autographs from a checklist that includes 150 total signers (see checklist below), while four Hot Boxes per 20-box case will yield an average of 10 autographs. That means each case will deliver an average of 136 prospect autographs.

We’ll let that set in for a minute before continuing . . .

Other highlights of the product include:

  • The brand new Building Blocks Dual, Triple and Quad Autographs inserts, with Quads numbered to just 10
  • The Best Compared To insert compares a 2011 Draft Pick to a current big leaguer with autographed versions signed by the prospect numbered to just 25
  • The Two-Sport Stars insert highlights top baseball prospects who also excelled in other sports at the high school or college level
  • The product’s base set includes 25 MLBPA stars and a 150-player Prospects subset
  • 50 on-card autograph signers including more than 30 first-rounders
  • Look for Aspirations Signature Die-Cuts (#’d to 100), Blue Status Signature Die-Cuts (#’d to 50), Emerald Status Signature Die-Cuts (#’d to 25), Gold Status Signature Die-Cuts (#’d to 5) and Black Status Signature Die-Cuts (#’d to 1)
  • Non-autographed versions of the parallel die-cuts are numbered to no higher than 200 and to as low as 10 per copy

  1. I love the look of the wood design on these. Everyone will want to chase down these rookie autos of the big namers.

  2. Would it be possible to let the NFL borrow logos for MLB players? Ichiro in a seattle Seahawks football uniform would be cool.. All on card.. No relics..I saw the front page of the new Beckett, and hasn’t the idea been thrown around before? Why not have the players dress up in retro 80’s clothes and call it Bowruss ( Bowman)..

    now thats a breakthrough set..

  3. Toronto Blue Jays 1st year prospect Eric Arce who broke the Gulf Coast League Home Run record was just added to the Autograph set. Arce led the GCL in HR, walks, OPS% and HBP. Look for this kid to continue to get better. Was also recently drafted to play Winter Ball in Puerto Rico.

  4. Hoping there is an Elite Series insert set inside of this product. Love to see this insert set continue in a “Donruss” product.
