Panini Peek Preview Gallery: 2011 Panini Playbook Football (34 Must-See Images)

The Knight's Lance loyalists (and we thank you) will remember a particular post from early January that included the discovery of what appeared to be a new mystery NFL product on the Panini America Routing Table. Well, I'm happy to report that just minutes ago, the seeming cloak of secrecy was ripped off and, indeed, a new product was unveiled -- and it's coming in April.

The Knight’s Lance loyalists (and we thank you) will remember a particular post from early January that included the discovery of what appeared to be a new mystery NFL product on the Panini America Routing Table. Well, I’m happy to report that just minutes ago, the seeming cloak of secrecy was ripped off and, indeed, a new product was unveiled — and it’s coming in April.

2011 Panini Playbook Football — an elegant, high-end, booklet-based product that will complete Panini America’s 2011 NFL product season — will arrive April 4 packing one on-card-signed, prime-memorabilia-piece Rookie Premiere Booklet, one rookie autograph, one memorabilia card and one additional autograph, prime-piece memorabilia card or booklet card in every four-card pack.

We’ll give you a second to take that in . . .

2011 Panini Playbook Football features a 136-card base set that includes 50 Common Signatures numbered to 99 or less, 50 Rookies Signature Silver numbered to 299 or less and 36 Rookies Booklet Silver numbered to 399 or less.

Other product highlights include:

  • Chronicle Signatures Booklets containing up to eight autographs and numbered to 10 or less
  • Playbook Materials Booklets injected with up to eight pieces of game-worn memorabilia and numbered to 49 or less
  • Accolades Signatures autographs from stars of today and yesterday numbered to 49 or less
  • Limited Edition Materials memorabilia cards featuring top NFL stars and retired greats numbered to 49 or less

Four-card packs of the every-card’s-a-hit Playbook will be packaged in 10-pack cases that should yield at least one Playbook Material card and at least three top-tier RPS Rookie Booklets. Production on many of those top RPS Booklets, it should be noted, has been completed and many of those cards are now on their way to the respective rookie superstars for signing.

Before they left Panini America HQ, however, I snapped a few pics just to give collectors a better understanding of the dynamic beauty that awaits. You can see those images, as well as additional preview mock-ups, in the gallery that follows.

Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional updates in the coming days.

  1. “Playbook Materials Booklets injected with up to _________ pieces of game-worn memorabilia and numbered to 49 or less” Please fill in the blank I MUST KNOW! This product looks amazing…

  2. Gonna need a whole new level of card holders for these! I really like the booklet design–another jewel in the Panini crown.

  3. Leaving me breathless! Probably cant afford to pick up the product…but love the drool gallery! Booklet cards rock and the prime pieces in these are really sweet!

And of course being a Knights Lance diehard fan…I remember the tease of these in January!

  4. Looks pretty sick so far. Tracy, do you have a guesstimate on the price of this product. I like the April release as well. I hate waiting 3 or 4 months to get a nice new product.

  5. Simply amazing product, a testament to Panini’s ability to give the collecting community what it demands. Booklets have been the rage for awhile now and these should be precedent-setting upgrades to the current marketplace for them. Thanks for the gallery, I’m officially excited to see what this product will yield when it goes live!

  6. I love booklet cards. The only problem I have with them is there is no really good way to protect and display them. You can get little ‘team box’ clam shell things, but that has them always closed. Or you can display them open, but they will be unprotected. I hope someone solves this problem soon.

  7. The design of the ‘left’ portion of these booklets is TRULY THE BEST design I have seen come out of Panini. I love the clean multi-photo look… it reminds me of old school flair and others, but refreshingly clean and clear. Two huge thumbs up!!!

  8. Product looks sweet, but panini and their redemptions have turned me off lately, i have been waiting over a year for a redemption and definatly don’t want to deal with that again….. is it gonna be redemption loaded???

    1. the design is really slick and i like panini’s product and designs, was my favortie for the longest time
