Officials at Panini America announced today their plans for the upcoming 2012 NHL Draft, being held later this week — June 22-23 — at the CONSOL Energy Center, home to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Panini America will aim to please hockey collectors with a version of their trademark wrapper-redemption program.

Panini has developed a seven-card Pittsburgh Penguins Team Set using the popular 2011-12 Pinnacle Hockey design featuring the following players:

1          Sidney Crosby

2          Evgeni Malkin

3          Marc-Andre Fleury

4          James Neal

5          Kris Letang

6          Jordan Staal

7          Simon Despres – Rookie

In Addition, Panini has developed two cards commemorating Pittsburgh’s Stanley Cup victories. One card features Mario Lemieux and pays tribute to their back-to-back Championship run during the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. The other card features Evgeni Malkin and honors the Penguins win in 2009.

Collectors will receive one of the promo packs, as well as their choice of one of the Stanley Cup tribute cards for bringing the following un-opened products to the Panini America booth:

THREE un-opened HOBBY packs of 2011-12 Pinnacle Hockey

THREE un-opened HOBBY packs of 2011-12 Contenders Hockey

THREE un-opened HOBBY packs of 2011-12 Elite Hockey

Can’t make it? Stay tuned to the Knight’s Lance on how you can still get the set, as well as some bonus cards!

  1. those are some cool looking shots for the cards! really makes you feel like you are on the ice with them. On a side note how cool would it be if you saw yourself on one of those cards (as a fan in the background).

  2. I will see you guys there!!! I bought my ticket for the draft !!! Please let us know where your booth will be!!

      1. Scott, do you know what dealers will be there for the card show inside of Consol? Also, will they be accepting credit cards, or should I just go to one of my local stores here in Pgh and pick up my hobby cards ahead of time so I don’t have to have a lot of cash on me if they don’t accept credit cards?

  3. Lovely cards and I am sure the Penguin fans and fans in attendance will love them. Only sad fact is only allowing 1500 (tickets) people to the NHL Draft on Friday. I never seen any other NHL draft that I attended in the past Nashville, Columbus, Carolina, or MInnesota limit the fans to such a low number.

      1. Yeah, Day #1 was really limited. I think 1,500 was the correct number and 3,500 for Day #2 for a total of 5,000 to the public.

    1. that was the # of tickets made available to the public. many more were given to season ticket holders and corporate partners of the Pens.

      1. Yea. It’s unfortunate since they were free tickets and a lot of fans that wanted to go got froze out. A lot of the people that got 1st day tickets sold them/are selling them for as much as $100 a piece! 100% profit. Absurd.

      2. Sadly that is what happens with any event, people tried to resell the tix for the Joe Paterno memorial service (which were free). We are corporate partners w/ the Pens but somehow were sent 8 tix (4 lower bowl, 4 upper bowl). 2 people dropped out and Im not sure what to do w/ them, no one even wants them when Im offering them for free! I may have to throw them up on ebay just to ensure someone can use them.

      3. I would take them in a second if they are friday night! If that is a real offer, please let me know. I would meet to pick up. I only have tickets for Saturday. Either way, enjoy the festivities!

  4. I am attending the draft on Friday. So, to understand this correctly, I need to redeem a total of 9 nine packs of cards THREE un-opened HOBBY packs of 2011-12 Pinnacle Hockey (THREE un-opened HOBBY packs of 2011-12 Contenders Hockey, and THREE un-opened HOBBY packs of 2011-12 Elite Hockey) in order to get the set of cards.

So, to get both additional cards, I would need 6 packs of each product?

Any word, on the Jagr card yet?

    Can’t wait

    1. Sorry Brett, it’s just THREE packs for one set + SC card. We just give you a few options to choose from.

      1. So, you get the entire 7 card set when you open the 3 packs at the booth, correct? If so, sweet. Wish the main post would have worded that a tad better. 🙂

  5. What time will the cards be handed out tomorrow? Like as soon as the doors open til the supplies or from like 530 to 7 (hypothetical). Thanks for any response
