Panini Unwrapped Scavenger Hunt Contest: 2012 Golden Age Baseball (Checklist)

Panini America's Tracy Hackler and Mike Payne sat down with one extremely entertaining (and high-yielding) box of the new 2012 Golden Age Baseball for this special edition of Panini Unwrapped. In addition to pulling cards honoring some of the most beloved figures in sports, entertainment, politics and so much more, the duo also discovered an 80-year-old gem. But you'll have to watch to find out exactly what else they discover.

Panini America’s Tracy Hackler and Mike Payne sat down with one extremely entertaining (and high-yielding) box of the new 2012 Golden Age Baseball for this special edition of Panini Unwrapped. In addition to pulling cards honoring some of the most beloved figures in sports, entertainment, politics and so much more, the duo also discovered an 80-year-old gem. But you’ll have to watch to find out exactly what else they discover.
The best part about this video, though, is that we’re giving you a chance to win not only that card, but also some boxes of 2012 Golden Age Baseball with another of our trademark Knight’s Lance scavenger hunts. We’ll share more details on that — as well as the complete product checklist — after the video.

OK, now for more fun. First, here’s the checklist: 2012 Golden Age Checklist
Now, for the scavenger hunt details: You see that image of Mike Payne in the graphic at the top of this post? (He’s the one on the left.) We’ve hidden part of his face from that image into one of the cards in the 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC gallery from last week. Your task is to find it and tell us — AS A COMMENT TO THIS POST — which card you found it on.
Just to be clear: You’re looking for a slightly modified, well-hidden version of the circled image below in one of the cards from the QC gallery. You have until 11:59 p.m. (CST) on Sunday, Dec. 23 to get your entries in. Good luck, happy hunting and, most of all, happy holidays.

  1. Really not thrilled with this stuff being marketed as a baseball product. I would be far more accepting of it as part of the Americana type lines Panini has put out, when both hits in a box are not baseball it’s not a baseball product imho. It seems like it’s ok for what it is but I hope people understand what they are getting when they buy it, I have said the same thing about similar products from the competition for years. Good luck to everyone in the contest, I won’t be participating. Thanks Tracy!

  2. And is it the actual image, or is it bleanded in (colours) with something else, like the other super hard contest? Thanks!

  3. I will take a guess the that hidden image is in the Jimmy Foxx mini card with him shown as a catcher. The man behind the mask would be Payne instead of Foxx

  4. Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (90) above her one earring.
Problem with very well hidden ones is you start seeing the images everywhere-in the horse’s nostrils, looking out a window on the titanic, in the background of the I have a dream MLK card, etc.
Anyway, thanks very much for the contest and Merry Christmas everyone!

  5. The hidden image is in the Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92) image. It’s above his right shoulder on the Russell Johnson Museum Age Authentic Collection Card.

  6. Okay – I am not good at these “Where is Waldo” deals – but I am going to guess on this one. I think it is in the JFK Card – in the Blue Jacket. But what do I know. By the way…. The more I looked at the cards the more i really liked them. The Movie Posters are COOL.

  7. I like the goofy eclectic sets that have been made the last few years by the different companies. I know what I’m getting when I buy it. One of my most memorable pulls was a few years ago when I got a Bruce Lee Fur jacket swatch card. Just off the wall kinda stuff. I think if the price point 24 packs and $2.99 per pack retail, you get a decent variety of stuff for the money.
I will be looking for 3 Stooges cards for my gym teacher friend/stooge fanatic and I will be looking for the horse cards for my horse-loving 11 year old daughter. Sadly, she is my only other true “card collector” in my family and I gotta keep the love alive that way.
I like to share the artists cards with the art teacher, the poet/author cards with the Language Arts teachers, the musician cards with the music teachers and the more historical cards with my Social Studies teacher friend. For those folks, this type of card is their only exposure to the collecting hobby at large most of the time.
Card collecting comes down to what you like. Some people like the hottest basketball rookies, some like current hockey cards, others baseball, RG III, autos, etc. Panini produces products that fit most collectors’ tastes so they can purchase what they want and skip what they don’t.
Thanks for the generous helping of card previews and contests recently. Who doesn’t like a challenge and a chance to win some great stuff?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!

  8. Where Mike Payne’s image is hiding:
Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (22)
Which is a Rollie Fingers autograph.

  9. Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92) The Russell Johnson, His face replaces the womans face it the left corner. Cool Cards!

  10. This looks like an outstanding product!
I’ve gone through the gallery 3x and STILL can’t seem to find the picture. However, I’m going to venture a guess that it’s the Jack Johnson pennant (upper right hand corner of the picture). It’s the closest I could find to the image.
Even if I don’t win, Happy Holidays to the Panini team and thank you for all of the great products you’ve put out over the past year. 2013 will be even better than this year!

  11. Mozilla crapped out on me while submitting – wanted to be sure my guess was received. Thanks as always Tracy! (Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92))

  12. I found it! The hidden image is in the picture of the memorabilia card of Russell Johnson. It says Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92) under the image. I hope I win! Thanks for doing these contests guys! I always love a good scavenger hunt that could pay off big time!

  13. I could not find the last one but I found this one …
Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC 92
Museum age Authentic collection Russell Johnson…between his hand and shoulder..
some may not like that this is an assortment of Stars from the likes of the Three Stooges to Barbera Eden etc. etc. with inclusion of pop-ups and some great memorabilia and auto hits …..for myself I just really really like this product …you can also pull some real vintage originals …..great inclusion of info with the SP…..I will say this again ……..I am certain this will be set of the year……..
On another note Happy Holiday’s “Everybody” in my best Tracy Hackler impression!

  14. I like how you guys hid the picture-not too hard but definetly not too easy. The answer is: Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92) of a Russel Johnson memorabilia card. Thanks again for this contest. Happy Holidays to everybody.

  15. Wow, I was about to give up and bam, there he is…
Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92)
Guys, this is crazy, the coverage is all over the place and the buy backs are awesome.
The unfortunate thing for me is that it falls into the multi-sport/entertainment and it is really hard for me to track how I really feel about stuff like this. Makes me only want to chase the hits… Which isn’t really that bad, right?
Your design team did a great job with the nostalgic design.
    Cheers!

  16. i enjoy a good challenge every now and again and these are fun to do! im all for these hunts! thanks again guys and as for my answer, i think its in Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92) over russell johnsons right shoulder?! appreciate the chances guys, keep up the great work!

  19. These types of sets usually aren’t my thing, but this set looks really nice. However, with that said, I do love these types of sets because I am able to get my wife into collecting. I had her hooked on the Americana set, and I am sure I will get her hooked on this set as well. Keep up the good work over there at Panini!!!! I’m off to do the scavenger hunt!!
    Merry Christmas!!!!!

  20. I think I see the image in this one:

Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92)
    Thanks!

  23. Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (19) It looks like he is on the lapel of JFK’s coat. I’m sure I’m wrong.

  24. I am REALLY looking forward to this set. Looks like a blast to open. There are so many great pulls. I could be mistaken but I think this is the first time Maureen McCormick has autographed cards.
I found Mike Payne on the memorabilia card of another one of Sherwood Schwartz’s classic characters, the Professor from Gilligan’s Island. Payne appears on Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (92) Russell Johnson Museum Age Authentic Collection. Looks like Johnson’s blue and white shirt although if it is from that era, it could also be his pants. Stylish!
Mike appears between Johnson’s shoulder and outstretched, waving hand. In the original photo there is a woman in that spot.

  25. Panini, this one was another contest that was too hard for me. I went through more than 5 times ENLARGED with no luck. Shoot. Just for the heck of it, I’m gonna put in a random guess, one that I might have seen him in. Panini America 2012 Golden Age Baseball QC (49). I miss all of the easier contests… thanks for the contest though, Panini. 🙂

  26. I guess my eyes aren’t as good as other people’s, because as soon as y’all made these harder, I cant find anything. Here’s my guess:
