Aaron Kellington, a passionate trading card collector from the Pittsburgh suburb of Washington, Pa., turned one lucky pack of officially licensed Panini America NFL trading cards into the opportunity of a lifetime in the 2013 Panini NFL Player of the Day promotion — the chance to spend the day with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.
On Sunday, April 27, Brown will attend a private party at the Kellington home where he will share stories from his young career, toss around a football with neighborhood kids, sign autographs and pose for photos with party guests. Following the party, Brown, Kellington and crew will ride by limousine to Sports Cards Etc., Kellington’s local hobby shop in McKees Rocks, Pa. Once there, the entire community will join in as winners when the Steelers’ star spends an hour signing free autographs and posing for photos. While Brown signs autographs for the rest of the community, Kellington will enjoy a $250 Panini America shopping spree at the shop.

“As a Steelers fan and big collector, this is an exciting opportunity for me and my kids to meet one of the top Steelers player up close and personal,” Kellington said. “I think it’s fantastic that Panini America gives back to its customers with these types of unique experiences.”
“The Panini NFL Player of the Day has been the hobby’s favorite promotion for more than a decade because it helps hobby shops sell more Panini NFL trading cards and rewards loyal collectors,” said Jason Howarth, Panini America Vice President of Marketing. “Making card collectors’ dreams come true is what we do at Panini, so we’re excited to host this special day for Aaron, his family, friends and all of the loyal customers of Sports Cards Etc.”
At least 200 fans will receive a free autograph from Brown at the event. Collectors can “reserve” a spot at the front of the line in advance by visiting Sports Cards Etc. before the event. All other autographs will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. For details, visit Sports Cards Etc. or call them at 412-787-3235.
“I am thrilled to share this opportunity with Aaron, his friends and family as well as our loyal customers who will truly enjoy this memorable experience,” said Dave Pfaff owner of Sports Cards Etc. “The Panini NFL Player of the Day promotion has been a favorite of our customers for over a decade and although we’ve awarded thousands of prizes, it’s great for one of our customers to finally be the grand prize winner.”
Kellington was among more than 150,000 NFL card collectors who participated in the 2013 Panini NFL Player of the Day contest at more than 800 hobby shops nationwide this fall. He is among the thousands who earned prizes. His journey began when he uncovered the designated Panini NFL Player of the Day from a pack of cards he purchased at Sports Cards Etc. He was then randomly selected a grand prize winner at the store and entered into the national sweepstakes with 800 other winners.
Brown enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2013 by setting a Steelers record with 110 receptions to go along with eight touchdowns and a Steelers single-season record of 1,499 yards. Since joining the Steelers as a sixth-round pick from Central Michigan, Brown has recorded 261 receptions for 3,561 yards and 15 TDs and has scored three touchdowns on special teams.
The 2013 Panini NFL Player of the Day promotion included more than 800 hobby shops across the country.  Panini America and NFL Players coordinated the promotion. This marks the 13th consecutive year that the NFL Player of the Day program has given an NFL card collector the chance to spend a day with an NFL player. Past players have included: Prince Amukamara, Beanie Wells, Pierre Thomas, Patrick Crayton, Steve Slaton, AJ Feely, Maurice Jones-Drew, Chris Simms, Rudi Johnson, Donald Driver, Ed McCaffrey, Chad Pennington and Frank Wycheck.

  1. Congratulations to Aaron!!! Enjoy every minute of it. As last years POD winner I had the time of my life thanks to PANINI !!!!!!!!!

  2. I hope they have thought out a parking plan. They really don’t have much parking there at all. At least every time I’ve stopped out there when in Robinson, there’s been no problem parking. But when you have the Steelers Nation descending on a small place, you’re going to have massive parking problems.
Hopefully they will get permission to use some of the space at the drive-in movie theater across the street for overflow parking during the event.

  3. Where is the “Winner’s list” for 2013 NFL Player of the Day contest? I won at my local hobby shop and have checked back regularly, but haven’t seen or heard anything. Thanks, Mike
