Philadelphia Phillies slugger Rhys Hoskins continues to make history with every magnificent swing. Hoskins is not simply in rare territory. He’s in unprecedented territory. No player in the game’s history has ever delivered a start quite like the one Hoskins has. He’s hit 11 home runs in his first 18 games. He’s belted dingers in each of his last five games and in seven of his last eight.

He became the fastest player in baseball history to hit 10 home runs. One day later he became the fastest player in baseball history to hit 11. He’s hitting .297 with those 11 homers and 24 RBI. Project Hoskins’ scorching 18-game start over a full 162 games and you get 99 home runs and 216 RBI. Seemingly unfathomable numbers that are resulting in even crazier numbers being paid for Hoskins’ autograph trading cards.

To date, the young star’s only autographs can be found in Panini America’s 2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball, in the Autographs insert and in the College Ticket Autographs insert. For what it’s worth, those cards are putting up numbers every bit as mind-boggling as Hoskins’ on-field production.

A copy of Hoskins’ 2016 Elite Extra Edition College Ticket autograph sold in late July for $29.93. Yesterday, one of those cards sold for a staggering $150, an increase of more than 400 percent. On August 21, one of Hoskins’ 2016 Elite Extra Edition Die-Cut autographs numbered to 75 sold for $46. Just four days later, one sold for $185, an increase of more than 300 percent.

Conducting a quick eBay search of completed items will reveal similar staggering results. His 2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball Championship Ticket Autograph 1/1 sold earlier today for $750; a Cracked Ice Ticket autograph limited to 24 copies sold for $697.15. And one of his patch autographs from Panini America’s 2017 National Sports Collectors Convention wrapper redemption set sold today for $275.

Those prices are sure to continue climbing in lockstep with every Hoskins homer.

    1. Not at all. Just shining light on a breakout player who’s enjoying a record start and whose autograph cards are faring well. Nothing wrong with a little good news every now and again.
