Panini America's 2014 Prestige Football has been live for all of six days now -- but that's more than enough time for astute collectors to discover the existence of rare photo-variation SSPs of 10 top rookies in the set: Blake Bortles, Derek Carr, Eric Ebron, Jadeveon Clowney, Johnny Manziel, Marqise Lee, Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, Teddy Bridgewater and Tre Mason.

The alternate-version Rookie Cards carry the same card number as their base counterparts but feature dramatically different photography of the respective players in their NFL uniforms. Although exact quantities of each card will not be released, the Rookie Card SSPs are falling two to three per case. Below we profile each of the 2014 Prestige Football photo-variation RCs (on the left) along with its base-set counterpart (on the right).
Got a Clowney VAR in my box-sweet!!!
One of my favorite chases and glad this years are easy to figure out
Agreed-I like it more when they are easier to figure out. I do like them better than the “sitting on the sideline” pix.
Not sure anyone likes the “Sitting on the sideline” pix for anything besides Score.
Love these….would also like some info on the Score football blaster exclusive helmets. There seems to be some very, very tough to find “throwback helmet” variation versions of these considering all the blaster boxes don’t have helmet cards in them. Thanks!
Let me see what I can dig up for you.
Thanks Tracy !
Just talked to the product guys and they did confirm that there are throwback variations in the helmet cards. Some are quite rare, others are not as rare. I will continue to investigate and will do a more comprehensive post in the coming days.
The “BASE” Pics above have the same Lettering as the VARs… but actually the Base cards have the name all on one line… so these “base” shown above might be more rare if they actually exist
I like that you have 1 each of in action & then no helmet on so can get these guys known. Even though you’re not releasing the #s to public, I hope you guys put or start putting the print runs on the fronts/backs; hate not EVER knowing the true #ing of a card that I have. may just be a personal opinion, but wanted to give some honest feedback. The concept of the variations & SSP is very cool though!
I pulled the Mike Evans variant in my hobby box…nice!
Thanks for publishing these, one of my big pet peeves is having to hold all rookies to find out which ones, if any, are SP. Great job!
Love my new Prestige pack. Included were Roethlisberger, Newton, Bryant, Peterson, four rookies including Bortles, a transparent Numbers, and a rookie swatch #ed/250!
