The annual baseball prospector’s dream known as Elite Extra Edition Baseball is gearing up for another show-stealing turn through the hobby — and it’s packing perhaps its most potent lineup yet.

2012 Elite Extra Edition Baseball goes live in mid January and will deliver more on-card autographs than ever before, not to mention an autograph checklist that includes 200 players and more than 55 first-round picks from the 2012 Draft. The product’s other primary calling cards return, too, including Aspiration and Status Die-Cut Autographs featuring a rainbow of colors (including Red, Blue, Gold, Black and — for the first time ever in EEE — an Orange version numbered to just 10 copies.

2012 Elite Extra Edition Baseball features a 200-card base set (including 100 autographed Prospects), 100 Franchise Futures Signatures, 20 Elite Series, 20 Elite Series Signatures, 20 Yearbook and 20 Diamond Kings.

Other highlights include:

  • Short-printed Green and Red ink autograph variations
  • Autograph/memorabilia cards of the 2012 USA Baseball 18U National Team and USA Baseball 15U National Team
  • Multi-player signatures include Building Blocks Dual (numbered to 49), Building Blocks Trio (numbered to 25) and Pick 6 Signatures featuring signatures from six different players (max numbered to 25)
  • A special insert featuring pieces of game-worn jersey from Carlos Correa, the first overall pick in the 2012 Draft.

  1. This is what I can’t wait for, and one in particular, Carlos Carrea..As a Stros fan ( yes I said it) I am going to go hard after his cards in EEE. Any help Tracy would put me in debt to you for a long, long time..lol Looking forward to January. Keeo it up guys!

  2. Hey Tracy,

Great preview. Can’t wait for this product. Are the USA National Team auto’s extra hits? Also, how many autos are there in a regular, non-hot box?

  3. I’ve always loved EEE for the interesting colored and numbered die cuts. I guess I have too much hobby ADD to go after draft pick cards and cards of kids who might be good down the road a few years. Of course, I don’t really pursue other products like that for the same reason. Different strokes for different folks!! That’s what makes the hobby great!

I must say overall that I really am glad that I got into this blog back a few months ago. Even if I don’t collect a particular sport or product, I enjoy reading the updates and stories as well as seeing the galleries of some of the primo cards that would come out of packs eventually. I am always curious to see what the high end cards from a product look like and these stories do the job!

    Thanks

  4. I remember the unwrapped of this last year…I believe you guys got one of the hot boxes. There is no other product that can TOPP this one for terms of prospect and prospect autographs. I mean..6 per box! Thats amazing. And up to 10 on some boxes.

  5. Are the Status Auto’s not going to be die cut this year? From the preview it doesn’t look like they are. Just wondering. Thanks Tracy. BTW, awesome giveaway you guys did with Chad aka FireHands, I actually won 3rd place and got a pretty awesome card. I was hoping for the Hull Stickside Auto, but at number 3 I really wasn’t expecting it. One more thing, any thoughts about making this a retail product as well? Not all of us have a hobby store within several hours of us, but everyone has a WalMart or Target somewhere close. Anyways, great looking product and I can’t wait til it hits the shelves.

    1. Good question, Brad. Yes, the Aspiration and Status autos are die-cut at the bottom to a point; it’s hard to discern that from the mock-ups. Congrats on winning one of the contests. Glad you enjoyed it. As for whether or not EEE will be at retail, good question. I’ll have to look into that.
