LAS VEGAS — Hockey collectors were treated to some exciting discussions at this week’s 2013 Industry Summit as news focused on the 2013-14 double rookie crop, which left everyone looking forward to collecting some stick-and-puck next season.

Before we jump too far ahead and start looking toward next year, there was one interesting Panini America development revealed during the Summit that had collectors drooling and buzzing on Twitter as news surfaced that the upcoming 2012-13 Rookie Anthology Hockey release would include packs of Prizm.

Panini America Hockey Brand Manager Karvin Cheung confirmed that 2012-13 Rookie Anthology will include a special insert pack of Prizm Hockey.

Rookie Anthology is set to release in June and will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards per hobby box (on average). One Prizm pack will be included as a box topper.

2012-13 Rookie Anthology is jam-packed for RC collectors. The multi-program thrill ride includes a 100-card Rookie Anthology base set with inserts and RCs from programs such as Contenders, Elite, Crown Royale, Titanium and Luxury Suite.

Clearly, big news for hockey collectors will be the inclusion of Prizm. Each pack will contain three cards, with a 52-card base set and 48 Rookie Cards. Prizm parallels will be randomly inserted including Rainbow, Red (serial-numbered to 50), Blue (serial-numbered to 25) and Gold (serial-numbered to 10). Randomly inserted autographs will also be included.

We will feature some of the actual product when we get closer to release, but for now here’s a sneak peek . . .

  1. This is just amazing news. I really like Rookie Anthology because it is a reasonable price and has both pieces to it. An easy to collect base set for us set collectors as well as some cool hits for that wow factor when opening a pack. To include a “Prizm Preview” in it as a box topper just adds even more of the wow to it. I can’t wait to start cracking open these boxes.

  2. Will there be regular Prism parallels (refractors) as well as the colored ones (Red, Blue & Gold)? Or is that what you mean when you say Rainbow?

  3. This is great, and I’m sure it will be a hit like Basketball and Football. When you say packs of Prizm in the Rookie Anthology, do you mean there will be multiple packs of just one additional pack per box? You guys always come very hard with your hockey programs and I’m sure this new one won’t be no different. Can’t wait to see some more looks at the colored parallels as soon as you guys get some cards in hand. I’m still working on some of my Prizm sets from Basketball and Football, so now I’ll have future plans for the hockey series. I’m pumped!!

  4. Scott,
I am so glad to see some hockey in the blog, I know next years rookie cards are going to be out of this world, but man do I miss some hockey product. These Prizm cards look awesome by the way.
    Thanks,
    T

    1. Thanks, to say I’m excited is an understatement but before we get there, I’m pumped over these last couple of 12-13 launches. Going to be fun…

  5. Please do not ruin the whole Prizm Product with adding more and more parallels, Gols is great, one retail / extra color highly appreciated as well, but please dont add more and more with every new product released!

  6. Its about time…………a Hockey product coming out ! Hope JT Miller will be included before Upper Deck products.

  7. Love that Prizm hockey is going to be included in Anthology this year (and hopefully open the door to being its own product in 13/14).
