The anticipation is palpable. 2010 National Treasures Football is coming — and as you can plainly see by the mouth-agape gallery below, it’s equipped with some of the most breathtaking big-ticket memorabilia cards in NFL history.

Not to worry, it’s packing only the biggest autograph guns too, many of which are showcased in the exclusive video that follows the gallery chronicling the National Treasures quality control process. In this case, that included Panini America Director of Product Development Ben Ecklar, Creative Director Brandon Lesley and NFL Brand Manager Carlos Torrez opening the first four-box case of the product.

What did the exhausted Panini America football team uncover? And why are the guys so exhausted? Well, you’ll have to watch and find out. But first, be sure to take your sweet time perusing the eye candy to discover just some of the unimaginable memorabilia gems possible in National Treasures’ $400 boxes, each of which delivers at least three autographed cards and eight total autograph or memorabilia hits among its 12 cards. Three boxes in every case will yield four autographs.

We think you’ll find out exactly why the landmark 6-year-old set has become the most anticipated high-end football product on the market. True to its name, National Treasures isn’t so much a trading card set as it is a bona fide national collecting treasure.

And now . . . drum roll, please . . . opening the first case of 2010 National Treasures Football:

  1. So what do you do with the cards that you just pulled from the break? Can I have the Dez Bryant Michael Irvin dual jersey? 🙂

  2. These look amazing. The video goes a long way to personalize the product and gives me a deeper appreciation for what it takes to get this into our hands. Kudos to the whole team.

  3. I can’t believe its actually almost here! I have to say, amazing job, I didn’t realize Carlos and Ben had to do all that work to get it ready. To the people that made this happen, and put in the long hours.. thank you.. it is appreciated. I am very excited, and knowing that it is hand collated.. even though I may only be able to buy one box, it should be a good one. The “timeline” patch auto’s are incredible, the new hall of fame cards, especially the auto’s, should be a fun chase, and the rookie patch auto’s, my lord.. hold on while I catch my breath! I can’t wait to see more!

  4. I really think the cards look great but along with with other high dollar sets, can we really call these Rookie Cards? They should all be given the XRC. I’ve always thought the $500+ hobby exclusive stuff isn’t a mainstream release. Not that I wish I could afford such nice cards as National Treasures, by far my favorite over anything from the competition.

All these nice inserts would be nice in, say, a medium-priced set like Plates and Patches. So while I dig these logos and shield cards, what’s left over for the customers who can’t afford the high dollar sets. Where do we go? eBay, i guess. Just my rant. By far, Panini has made better contributions to the hobby than Topps and UD. Keep up the good work.
