Quality Controlling 2010 Playoff Contenders Football (Gallery & Controverisal Video)

With the official release date of the highly anticipated 2010 Playoff Contenders Football now just a week away, members of the Panini America football team have spent the last two days conducting the product's two-tiered quality control process, first on location at the printing and packing facility, and yesterday at corporate headquarters in Arlington, Texas.

With the official release date of the highly anticipated 2010 Playoff Contenders Football now just a week away, members of the Panini America football team have spent the last two days conducting the product’s two-tiered quality control process, first on location at the printing and packing facility, and yesterday at corporate headquarters in Arlington, Texas.

I was able to compile a comprehensive gallery of some of Contenders’ sweeter hits before they were we reintroduced into packout. That gallery follows. But I apparently also stepped on some toes while filming a video of the QC check, inadvertently creating quite the controversy in the process. Stay tuned to the end of the video to see what I mean.

I’ll do my best to get more information for you later this week.

And now, for the unintentional controversy . . .

    1. Apparently, it’s from sweating seemingly innocent questions from me. I try to keep our collectors informed and then I get chastised by all of product development. What a beating.

  1. There you go pulling the greatest cards out of the set again…EVIL EVIL EVIL CONSPIRACY CONSPIRACY CONSPIRACY!!!! THAT DANNY WOODHEAD SHOULD HAVE BEEN PULLED BY COLLECTORS AND PACKED OUT…BLAAAAAHHH BLAAHHH BLAAAAHHH

(Sorry, i just couldnt help myself to a “rant” about a controversial pull…love this stuff and cant wait to bust some!)

    1. just in case anyone was wondering, i was having a bit of fun with my previous post..sometimes good cards are pulled during these box breaks and it couldnt bother me less!!! Always love Panini!!! :o)

  2. If you showed the better of all the hits that were busted how come it only looks like the Shipley is the only on card auto? I counted 15 stickers (16 if you count the dual auto). By my count that you had 16 autos at least 4 should be on card.

  3. Hmmm.. well, I thought you brought up a good question… but I remember when the “Tebow mail day” video was posted, there seemed to be some different autos and variations shown, so I mean, is it so wrong to just wanna know whats gonna be in the product? Surprise is nice and all but stuff like that can also be a good selling point to someone who is collecting any of the other products that have released recently and perfectly content unless there is something more… appealing?? Especially with an important set like this!

  4. That was a beat down earlier today, but those guys have to understand that sometimes stuff happens – I mean really when where they going to tell people or was the master plan that they were just going to let people figure it out on their own?

    1. Such a beat down. Great question, man. They didn’t tell me ANYTHING about anything. I was just trying to ask the questions I thought collectors would want answered. Let’s hope tomorrow is a better day than today.

  5. Those guys try to look so serious……none the less this looks like another very appealing product and the auto’s are plainly visible not like some of the complaints I have been reading on the front page……great job Tracy on putting them on the spot.

  6. Wow! Those two looked like they didn’t want you there from the start of the video, they obviously were just looking for a reason to come down on you. Or you all are very good actors, which it didn’t seem staged. You understand customer relations, and promotion, that is why you were hired. They could have easily said something like, “We are not at liberty to talk about that” smiled and winked. That would do just as much to tease something and create buzz. To me it just seemed like you were asking if there were any parallels, not asking them to release the secret documents on the Kennedy Assasination.
What you have done so far at Panini has been a great pleasure to see, you have created more interest in their products and drawn interest to the company. Perhaps next time you could ask who designed the spot for the autographs on the cards, it just looks jumbled with the word “Rookie” there, the word “rookie” stands out more than the autograph, I bet they would have liked that question. I wonder if they read this blog, or if it is “beneath them.
Hang in there Tracy. Hopefully there are some people there that appreciate you.

  7. Hi,
How many autograph cards are in a box?
At the “Panini Peek: 2010 Playoff Contenders Football” it says four at least one on card, but in the film at 2.15 Carlos says five, with an average of two on card.

  8. Why did those guys get so flustered, in my opinion its all staged…Sorry but if they were really that upset about the question they wouldnt have answered like that, plus all they had to do was cut and edit, its a video…
