Razor Sharp: Daryl Reaugh Steals the Show During Classics Signatures Hockey Break

Daryl "Razor" Reaugh is a cult-like icon in the Dallas area, the voice and face of the Dallas Stars and a former goalie for the Hartford Whalers and Edmonton Oilers who was, for the record, drafted ahead of Patrick Roy. Clearly, though, Razor has saved his best work for the broadcast booth, where he's spent the last 17 years alongside Ralph Strangis forming one of the longest-running, game-calling duos in NHL history.

Daryl “Razor” Reaugh is a cult-like icon in the Dallas area, the voice and face of the Dallas Stars and a former goalie for the Hartford Whalers and Edmonton Oilers who was, for the record, drafted ahead of Patrick Roy. Clearly, though, Razor has saved his best work for the broadcast booth, where he’s spent the last 17  years alongside Ralph Strangis forming one of the longest-running, game-calling duos in NHL history.
The charisma-oozing Reaugh lugs a rapier wit, resplendent demeanor and encyclopedic knowledge of the game and its players everywhere he goes, including to this special edition of Panini Unwrapped starring 2012-13 Classics Signatures Hockey.

Reaugh certainly is no stranger to boxes of Panini America trading cards. In addition to appearing in Classics Signatures Social Signatures insert (which proudly trumpets his burgeoning Twitter account), Reaugh has penned some downright delightful card backs for the Razor’s Choice insert that has appeared in the company’s last two Crown Royale releases.
But today is all about 2012-13 Classics Signatures. Really, though, it’s all about Razor and his mystifying color commentary. We hope you enjoy the video. (As for whether or not Reaugh left Panini America HQ yesterday toting an inordinate amount of One Direction and Justin Bieber product, well, I can neither confirm or deny that.)

  1. Love the stories / commentary Razor brought. Good stuff. Great work, great cards. How do you capture this stuff in the collecting experience? Panini America’s – Panini Unwrapped!

  2. This is by far the most entertaining Box Break video ever. I like the fact that there was a personal memory associated with almost every single card. This is what collecting should be like, unfortunately we are too much hit base in the collecting world now.

  3. This is one of the most entertaining unwrapped videos. Such a great story teller.
This is what its all about. The story of every card. The respect and history of the game.
Love it. That’s what I keep teaching my son that. Every card is very important. That is why our YouTube videos is way longer than it has too.
Anyway great point about the autographs. That some players lost the art of cursive writing.
It would be awesome to have a thumb print card. Like left hand and write. So it would be limited to two.
That would be a definitely a chase card.
Thanks for the great story lines.

  4. What an entertaining break. You could see that “Razor” really enjoyed looking at the photos on the cards..I bet he had stories that could take up hours of video. Thanks for doing a break so we can see the product!

  5. Love the look of this and yet another amazing video guys. Not sure how you keep doing it but you are doing a great job emptying my wallet 🙂
