Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Aldon Smith of the San Francisco 49ers is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on October 16-17, the NFL announced on Friday.

Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Aldon Smith of the San Francisco 49ers is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on October 16-17, the NFL announced on Friday.

Smith was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies. The other finalists for Week 6 were quarterback Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals, defensive tackle Stephen Paea of the Chicago Bears, wide receiver Greg Salas of the St. Louis Rams and defensive end Jabaal Sheard of the Cleveland Browns.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.

This is Pepsi’s 10th year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the 10th year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.

  1. I had a feeling he would win again. He had a great week. I do hope that Dalton wins some week. I have Demarco murray picked for next weeks winner already or at least a Nominee.
