We should have known the responses would come flooding in. After all, when the topic turns to Tim Tebow, seemingly everyone -- and we mean everyone -- has a take. But few people have a better take on one of America's most scrutinized athletes than Robby Tebow, Tim's older brother and the Executive Director of The Tim Tebow Foundation.
We should have known the responses would come flooding in. After all, when the topic turns to Tim Tebow, seemingly everyone — and we mean everyone — has a take. But few people have a better take on one of America’s most scrutinized athletes than Robby Tebow, Tim’s older brother and the Executive Director of The Tim Tebow Foundation.
But when the number of entrants for our contest to reward one lucky collector with a 2010 Playoff Contenders Tim Tebow Rookie Ticket autograph swiftly swelled to more than 200, we knew we needed some assistance in selecting the winner.
So we did what we do every time Panini America needs to put a Tebow autograph in collectors’ hands: We called Robby, the man who has had a helping hand in every Tebow autograph we’ve ever produced.
We selected a handful of our favorite responses and sent them to Robby in hopes that he could break the tie. Exhibiting that trademark brand of overwhelming generosity that runs in the Tebow family, Robby did not disappoint.
“Thank you for passing these responses along to me,” Robby wrote. “Although it’s very hard to pick just one, if I had to, I would choose Joshua Asis. Have a great week and thanks again!”
No, Robby. Thank you.
Congratulations, Joshua. Your winning entry bears repeating:
“When I first heard of Tim Tebow, it was a short documentary on him as a high school athlete. It was a coincidence because the certain topic of discussion was about him and his family ties to the Philippines and their missionary efforts. Personally, I am half Filipino. My father was born in Manila, Philippines. And the connection with him just grabbed me. His faith and beliefs were the same as mine. And I love football and collecting trading cards. There is no doubt in my mind he will be a successful QB in the NFL, even though he plays against my Chargers in the West. His cards will flourish for years to come. Timmy is a winner, a Christ follower and a force that can’t be beat without a fight.”
Thanks to everyone who participated. Your thoughtful responses were tremendous. Oh, and Joshua, we’ll be in touch.
Congratulations Joshua! That is so cool Robby picked the winner, that makes winning this card a little bit sweeter. Great giveaway Tracy, there was an incredible response for this one.
Congratulations Joshua!
Congrats Joshua, what a great situation and way to be chosen!
hey, who can argue with that. that entry was awesome – very classy, especially coming from a chargers fan 😉
Awesome, good job Josh! Come to the National this year and I’ll buy you lunch!
I looks like the card went to the right person. Well crafted post.
Thanks everyone for the congrats! I was being very honest with that post. When I was watching the 2010 draft, my mouth and heart dropped when Denver took Timmy in the first round. Because I knew as a Charger fan that we would have to deal with him for years to come. Good luck Charger D! LOL
