Spreading the Hobby Love . . . And Giving Away Five Black Boxes in the Process

Panini America’s much-discussed “Year of the Hobby Shop” mantra so prevalent at this week’s 2011 Industry Summit in Las Vegas is going viral for a contest that will award Black Boxes to five lucky collectors.

Panini America’s much-discussed “Year of the Hobby Shop” mantra so prevalent at this week’s 2011 Industry Summit in Las Vegas is going viral for a contest that will award Black Boxes to five lucky collectors.

We here at The Knight’s Lance promised last week that we’d give our loyal readers a chance to win some of these black beauties. Here’s how we’re going to do it:

  1. Go to your local card shop and a purchase a hobby box of Panini America trading cards
  2. Video your break at the card shop (and show your receipt, you know, for proof)
  3. Post your video to YouTube and post the YouTube link as a comment to this post

That’s it. The first five people to do this will win a coveted Black Box from this year’s Summit.

Oh, you say you don’t have a local card shop in your area? No problem. We’ve got a sixth box reserved for another contest that we’ll announce in the coming days.

Until then, good luck. We can’t wait to watch your breaks.

  1. Great contest. Hopefully nobody gets a speeding ticket rushing to their LCS today. Things like this makes Panini the best and most customer-friendly card manufacturer out there.

  2. The shop near me isn’t open yet! Booooo. Besides, being at work makes it tough to drive around across town for this. Oh well. Maybe we will get a contest the “rest” of us can enter.

  3. Ok here’s mine. I took a stinkin early lunch and sped over to my card shop. Rock’s Dugout in Northrock Bowling Lanes in Wichita, KS. Sorry for the poor quality I used my phone and didn’t have anything to set it on. I bought a small box of football Contenders as I’m on a budget and it’s not close to payday. Hope this works as you didn’t specify. I hope I get a black box bc I wanted one so bad from your posts you did before the Summitt. Thanks for the contest Tracy!!!

    1. We’ve had quite a few videos submitted. Thanks so much for everyone’s participation. We will be viewing, approving and awarding the five winners later tonight or early tomorrow. Thanks again.

      1. Oh my gosh, tell me about it! Sorry for the coarse word there when that happened, but I think just about everyone can understand! Jeff is still making fun of me… :s I am just so glad it wasn’t a Seahawk or a short print. Also, I am happy to report Michael Palmer made a full recovery… we’re hoping he doesn’t miss any playing time and makes a full recovery. 🙂 lol. I just wish I could have got the before the trip, the during the trip, and the trip home footage! We made a 35 minute drive in like 15-20.. Would have made a good comedy.

  5. Unfortunately, my local hobby shop is closed this week. Owner is on spring break, but that is my luck…….:(

  6. I made a video break of the 2011 national treasures , thing is it shows there is hits missing . You really want me to post the video ? … or will I be ignored like all my other posts .

  7. Great Idea guys…soooooo bad that work got in the way, I’d of had my Local Store (Extra Innings in Mason, MI) on the phone all prepped and ready for when I showed up.

  8. Received my black box today. Tracy, thanks for the fast shipping.

was really excited to open the box. here is what I got:

10-11 Panini Limited Banner Season Prime Patch Black Box 1/1 Paul Pierce

and an awesome football autograph of Drew Brees

I’m really not into football, but this autograph looks so great that I will keep it in my collection together with the Pierce 1/1 patch.

That was a great box for me.

Thanks again Panini and Tracy for this great contest!

    -Chris
