We’ve brought you bits and pieces of this gilded gem over the last several days, but today we’re going to take you pack-by-pack through one 24-pack box to give you an idea of what you can expect when you start breaking your boxes on Wednesday.

Boasting a spectacular array of throwback nuances (including the always-collectible mini parallels with variation backs, oversized box-toppers and a host of nostalgia-tinged inserts), Golden Age also packs a few surprises. This particular box delivered two autographs as opposed to the advertised one; one in every four boxes should deliver an extra hit (either a second autograph or a second memorabilia card), a welcome occurrence that should happen once in every six boxes or so.

Enjoy this first look at one complete box of the product, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance tomorrow for an exclusive interview with Gary Lee Cavagnaro, the actor who played Mike Engelberg in “The Bad News Bears” and who sat down with us to sign his cards.

  1. Very cool-can’t wait!! Not that last year’s wasn’t eclectic, but this years version is even more so.

Question-are there any box topper swatch cards or autos?

Question-how many 3 Stooges inserts are there?

  2. This going to be such a cool set to collect, I am mainly a hockey card guy but I am going to have to get a couple boxes of this to try and collect.

  3. Love the DeLong Gum inserts and the Playing Cards. Fun stuff and hope my LCS can pull another hit to follow the Babe Ruth they had with last years Golden Age!

  4. Did Panini do all 52 playing cards? Is it possible to put a set together ? Also, do any have different numbers and/or suites? Variations? And is it possible to put together a whole deck of the same celebrity/athlete?

  5. I love how this stuff looks and can’t wait until Wednesday. Hopefully my LCS will carry it again this year. Looks good Panini.

  6. Tracy, this is great. Even the packaging looks great! Very excited about this, tobacco sized minis are my collecting bread and butter, so this is my set!

  7. I’d have to say packs 8,12,24 were my favourite! Overall, the cards looks really cool! They have that old rustic feel with vibrant and subtle colours! Looks really great!

  8. Totally awesome Penny Marshall sig would just love to pull one of those….among many others……great stuff!

  9. Still not in love with this set but I have to admit that Penny Marshall auto is cool. Thanks for the preview Tracy!

  10. The Bad News Bears=AWESOME!!! I really liked last years set (then again, I won a box) and I hope I like this set as well (and hope I win a box 🙂

  11. Just not a huge market for the stuff. Either the price point needs to be low, autos need to be of people we know and what, or very hard and rare cards. Other than that I don’t see my self taking money away from other panini products to buy this one. If it were say around $30 a box with potential to have some significant pulls than maybe. But not for a relic of a Brady Bunch actress. I see alot of .99 autos on eBay coming from this stuff.

  12. i too don’t get the appeal for this. Pereira is right, this stuff won’t hold it’s value. This is about as bad as balloon boy swatches and walking dead “shot worn” clothing.
