But here's hoping a pack-by-pack breakdown of one randomly selected box of 2012-13 Contenders Basketball can help restore a sense of normalcy. We previewed our newest NBA release in all of its glory earlier this week right here on The Knight's Lance. But today, we take you through one 20-pack box with a photographic breakdown of every pull. Enjoy.
Most of the collecting public — present company included — is trying hard to get back into the swing of things after another wonderful holiday season. But with snow still on the ground here at Panini America HQ, and with an impending New Year’s celebration just days away, the seemingly simple task of getting back to business as usual can prove to be rather difficult.

Sweet
I love it when you do this. This is how a card company is real. They show the breakdown of a regular box so they aren’t making you think you have greater odds to pull some amazing cards.
On top of that, I wanna say these inserts in this set look SICK. Hopefully I can pick up a box of this in the near future.
I’ll save everyone else the trouble….is there a checklist coming out soon?
I sure hope so. 🙂
Another great Product after product.
Love it. Tracy you guys are lucky pulling of either Davis and now rivers! Looks really good. I could see collectors all over the world will be contending in picking up Contenders.
This is always a great news for me that there ate more varieties that we could eventually pick and get when we want it. Thanks again Tracy and Panini for your continued and nonstop innovation and trying to get everyone excited again and again.
Salute
Peace!
How about we get the autos for last year limited rookies instead of having them sign for this years products???
I have always had great respect for this product. The Rookie autos are always the most popular. And i have always been a fan of the base cards. Thanks for the early sneek
What a sweet looking product! If the Sonics were still in town I would definitely be going to my local card shop and picking up my favorite players to get some blue sharpie put on these. Thanks for the breakdown and I look forward to more!
Two words come to mind – funky and cool. I’ve really enjoyed Hoops and Prestige and thought I would stop there. Contenders has several sharp designs. My trigger finger is starting to itch!
Those base cards are just freaking fantastic!
Is this gonna be retail?
Love the Rookies of the Year insert!
I like this type of post where you can see all the contents of a whole box. I do enjoy the “highlight” galleries of the best cards in production, but I think this gives a better overall feel for the flavor of a particular set. Thanks for doing it!
My pleasure, man. Glad you like it.
Love that Danny Ainge. Sweet Grandmama insert, too. I guess I’m just an old school fan 🙂
Product looks fantastic. Are there any shortprint chase autographs?
I noticed the KOBE anthology pack with this box. What products do those packs come in and are they randomly placed in boxes or every box? Thanks a lot!
There is one pack of Kobe Anthology inserted into every hobby box of our 2012-13 NBA products. There is a 200-card base set along with autographed and memorabilia cards randomly inserted.
i opened a box today and these totally caught me off guard. These photos do not do the cards justice. Also, the Rookie Remembrance inserts look so cool in person. I could definitely see something like those with gold autos in the future. Hell I might try to get them signed myself and mail the person a gold pen to write with!
great lookin..like the look of the historic contenders set
